What have you done to your car today ???

Fitted my refurbished inlets and gave the engine a clean.

Clio 182 Track Car & Daily Projects

Finally got around to removing the old inlets. It was full of dodgy threads and somebody had tried to polish it which looked crap. It was also a good opportunity to replace the old gaskets and give things a little clean up, including electroplating the old bolts with zinc and a touch of...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

I was actually at Silverstone at a race meeting and just happened to be chatting to a lad, who knew a lad and it went from there. I've been looking forever. I'm not sure how many sets there are so i'll drop him an email and see if it's ok to put the word out. I don't want to s**t in my own nest...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

I agree. I'd already bought a new set of 52's as up until last weekend my search for A050's was fruitless. So already had them and will take them along to the next trackday's as we're starting to move towards Autumn and potential damp conditions. Got some Rainsports as well in case it chucks it...

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

Not sure if i should say 😂 as i'll be needing a few sets and they might run out if everybody knows about it ;)

Track Tyres - Feedback and Recommendations

My 2 pence worth. I started my first season on Yokohama AD08R's, not the new compound. 195/55/15's on TD Pro Race 1.2 wheels. Worth noting my Clio 182 is running a modified version of the Spax coilovers as used in 750 MC 182 Clio Championships. Stiff as hell. On track i found them quite grippy...

Actually the post would cost just as much as the tool thinking about it. That’s the same item, although gone up in price since last year...

I’m sticking purple Powerflex back in so don’t need a press, just a little tap does the trick. The link on EBay is dead, says item no longer available 🤷🏻‍♂️ but you can borrow these if you want, just pay the postage then send back when you’re done 😊

Clio 182 Track Car & Daily Projects

Oh and the inlets arrived today and they’re every bit as good as the pictures. I asked Max just to blast them back to original and he stuck some clear coat to protect them. Very happy with how they turned out.

Clio 182 Track Car & Daily Projects

Time to finish disassembling the rear beam. Bolts on the brackets came out pretty easily and look like they could be refurbed - we’ll see. Next it’s on to the bushes and this time I bought the proper tool - a 4 in 1 frame press kit off EBay for £24. Seems a little extravagant just to...

Clio 182 Track Car & Daily Projects

Now the weather’s starting to cool and the nights drawing in, it’s time to start getting some more work done on the Clio’s. Managed to pick up a cheap upper and lower inlet from a local lad. Then get it off to Max at MS Custom Engineering. I’ve heard good things about this lad and he didn’t...

    Can't be 197 valves then, but they're definitely 1 piece. :)

Clio 182 Track Car & Daily Projects

Update on the track car engine. Not the dephaser - didn't think it was that anyway - but the valves. When i think about it, it's the same issue i had when i first bought the car. I guess after 4 track seasons and several thousand hard track miles, it's gotten a lot worse. Going to replace the...

    Bye Bye Race car.

Gutted for you fella. The joys of novice championships - some good fair racers, but also Trackday heroes (bellends) - which is why I decided not to race mine. Hope you can bounce back as you were doing well.

I’ve already been in touch with MS Custom Engineering but must be very busy. Who else would people recommend? Just wanting upper and lower inlets doing and preferably aqua blasting.

    ACS roll centre kit ??

I’m running Pro-am kit. Did 2 trackdays on original parts without issue. Got sent the upgraded parts, fitted them and did another Trackday without issue. I’ve now got the latest upgrade v3 which I’m fitting before next Trackday. Can’t fault the aftersales service from Scott who kept me in the...
