DIY spraying inside of car - Tell me know

That's what I want to hear! Did you clear coat over the top of the base, how long between your coats and how many coats? Learnt from my current white one! Won't be doing that again. Looked amazing when I did it. Awful to live with.

DIY spraying inside of car - Tell me know

As part of my new track car build I'm planning to spray the inside of my car. I did it with a brush last time and vowed to never do it again. Whilst I've done body work in the past it's always been with other peoples equipment instead of my own so this will be a first. I don't want to spend much...

Martin's Track Clio 182 Project Thread

Sounds like your engine mounts are making the engine sit a bit crooked. The v band flanges were flat against one another when it was loosened off as we did come across that issue earlier before the replacement link pipe. The exhaust sits at the normal height on this, parallel to the floor.

Flames it is then 🔥 Loosen the v band, rotate it to the right angle and then do up the cat gasket. The ED pipe sits at the same location as the 182 manifold did so no issues with the exhaust for us. Sounds very odd what you’re describing as we had absolutely no lateral or vertical tension when...

Initiale dCi Daily Project (yes, diesel.)

Use some gloves man! That filter is vile, although slightly better when I read it was K&N. I originally thought it was a paper one. 69 mpg is mental, I think we have different driving styles and I’m getting 60.

    Wiring tools

I do tons of car wiring and there isn't much you can't do with 3mm heat shrink, solder and decent wire strippers. I got something similar to the Knipex one but from lidl for a few quid and it's been a brilliant tool. My soldering iron is also from there, 48W and it does some pretty meaty cables...

Graham’s little add on. The end is definitely in sight now, praise the lord, and we’ve made some brilliant progress over the past few weeks. As Mart mentioned the engine is now up and running well, making great oil pressure and sounding sweet. We primed the engine thoroughly by turning it...

    Paintless dent removal

Get recommendations from someone else who has had it done locally. As others have said PDR can be flawless if you get a skilled professional. It's absolutely crucial you don't try and do anything your self. Without proper equipment you will 100% make it worse and risk permanently deforming the...

Very nice cheap M3 on Pistonheads

I think that's a realistic pricey. They certainly aren't cheap to run, tax is insane and rod bearings are inevitable. You should see the e90 m3 group on facebook, full of dreamers about the price of their car. The only place in the world where a modification is worth more on the car than it...

    172 Overheating Problem

Have you changed the coolant temperature sensor? That's where I'd start as you need to be strapping a turbo to one of these and going racing to see it over heat.

DCI top mount nuts and washer

for a mk2? I can't say I know of the nut you've circled above. There's a very think 17mm nut which goes over the strut.

Scuttle drains, am I missing something?

Does it come through the window? I would otherwise check the three skuttle drains? Do you have a sunroof? If so, has the seal been repaired?

    Rescuing BG 182

Head gaskets never go on these so was always going to be something different. They must have taken it to a rather inexperienced garage! An injector is the best result by a mile!

    Mk2 Clio DCi Daily

Gates is good with fail safe instructions. I went for a valeo water pump which also was very good quality. Make sure you have a degree gauge for doing the crank bolt as it's a floating set up, 120nm plus 95 degress + or - 15. That's extremely tight! The rest is very easy. Something like the...

Too much spannering for me now! Definitely a one off now though :) Cheers dude. I went through all the motions of whether it was was worth it or not. If I’d bought a new car the maintenance on it would have been more and anything newer would get a blocked DPF with the short daily trips to the...

IT WORKS! We started nice and early yesterday with the aim of getting it up and running. The main task was swapping over the tank for a clean one with no metal filings in. To get the tank out isn't the most fun of tasks and at minimum involves removing the exhaust and brake lines from under...

    Interior Earth connections.

For the dash loom there is one behind the airbag. Depending on the loom spec there are some next to the side impact sensors but I’ve only seen that on dcis

It already had a decat but I’ve left the EGR alone. I’ve never had too many problems with them blocking and prefer the buttery smooth cold starts with them. That said I’ve given the hard pipe and housing a bloody good scrub as I hadn’t done it for over 10k. The biggest mod is that it’s going...

Indeed! ABS works correctly. This thing was enormous but working with it on the crane wasn't as bad as I originally thought it would be! Yesterday I took the day off to make some more progress on the car. This is now day 4 and admittedly a much longer job than I anticipated but reassuringly...

Made a bit of progress over the past couple of days. @Martin. has been a huge help putting my sanity back in check and making a horrific task a laugh. The garage looked like a K9K bomb had hit it after Friday so needed some serious re-arranging which we spent most of Saturday doing. Today saw a...

A few weeks back we headed to wales for our summer hol and whilst it would have been nice to take the BMW the economy of the Red Shed couldn't be ignored. I had a couple of Rainsport 3s put on the back and now the car feels awful! The steering is all over the place and it seems to veer on...

    Leaking Sunroof

I used sikaflex 291, you need adheasive in what you use otherwise it just peels off the paint and you get leaks again. I masked all around my roof, took it out, ran a sizable bead around the frame, tightened it down and then finished the edges and peeled the tape off. Was a permanent repair...

Just a few little bits to add. The gt2560 is a water cooled turbo which will add heat into the cooling system. We've tried to compensate for this in three ways: Fitting a 197 thrermostat which opens at a lower 75 degrees Clocking the turbo. The clocking is to better aid the natural...

    Disable relocking doors?

I’ve also tried this and failed sadly. There is an option in CLIP but, as you mention, it’s for the autolocking when moving. I removed my door switches from the loom but really need to add them back in. Touch wood I haven’t locked the keys in the car yet but it’s only a matter of time.

    2019 stripping out loom question?

Think I replied on facebook but yes you can program the airbag ecu with CLIP. have personally left in the airbag ecu for the correct lights come MOT time but you might be able to remove the whole system from the multiplex network. This wouldn't be my preference as they could get you under the...

Where to get new actuator for turbo

The one you have currently isn’t the original. You have to clock the gt2560r compressor housing for the compressor outlet to clear the manifold. A t28 z style actuator should work. We are planning on flipping the last bend on the original actuator so it offsets 30mm.

    incy-spiders Clio 182 turbo

Thanks for the gasket link :) Amazing what a difference there is between the pistons. Would love to know why they’ve gone for a different skirt design and what the coatings on it are because it looks lighter at first glance. Looks like it would be ever so slightly higher compression on the top...
