It will depend on a) how well it has been built and b) how far you push the power.
Low boost, built well should be no different to a std car. High boost built on the cheap, expect problems
I've just bought this camera too. Excellent deal at Currys. Camera, 2 lenses (18-55mm & 55-200mm) Nikon bag, extra battery and lense cleaner. All for £339 + a £20 cashback from Nikon brining it down to £319...
Personally l don't think it's from that van. That looks to be old damage to me, and too high maybe?
Decent dent guy will be able to remove most of that I think, depends if it's damaged the paint or not though. Can't tell from the pictures.

Fogs blazin' yO! Should have fined you for that alone!
I'm kidding of course, but how you could you not know that the plates weren't legal? I think you were lucky they let you off to be fair.
They're sales people, they aren't going to tell you it's possibly going to ruin your wipers. It's still worth reading up on the issues.
Here's one thread I could find. I'm sure I've seen one that details all the issues too. I'll keep looking...
They have a habbit of burning out wiper motors or something. Theirs a few threads about it over on swede speed forum. I'll see if I can find you the main thread sometime today.
I think you either need to use a specific kit, buy an additional wiring kit or just run the risk of killing the wipers...
