Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

70nM front 40nM rear as specified by Josh Cook as this is apparently what he ran on his own road car. I have 12 clicks of adjustment on these and the front is currently set at 7 and the rear at 6. It’s pretty firm for a road car but changes direction and corners lovely. I may go slightly softer...

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

Thanks so much Steve. Although I’d say your rebuild is one of the most inspiring and comprehensive threads on here. Great to see so many of these starting to be saved as opposed to cut up.

Frayz's Inferno 182 - Back in the old flame

So this week not long after I’ve fixed the ball joint issue, I turn the steering on the drive and hear the weirdest of creeking noises. Only happened on right lock, not on left, wasn’t rotational and didn’t increase frequency with speed. It was just a weird creeking A noise that didn’t really...

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

Performance Friction 01s were my favourite. More aggressive retardation from a set of those in my Clio than my 356mm 6 pot APs in my Impreza with DS2500. They did eat a set of HCs in 12k road miles though and had to refurb both sets of wheels. 😅 The Pagids are around £270 so the Carbotechs are...

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

I agree and disagree. Performance comes at a price I agree. However, not all high performance pads have corrosive dust and eat discs. Case in point as I’ve said is the RSL29 from Pagid. Im just seeing what else Clio owners are using and to what effect that offer high performance without eating...

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

I ran them in the rear of my Impreza many moons ago. I know things don’t stay the same always and products get developed. However my experience of EBC wasn’t a remarkable one. They did the job for what I needed at the time. I guess it’s difficult to comment about a pads true characteristics when...

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

Thanks for your input Kev, i know what you mean about knowing what you like and agree sometimes a punt is needed. Also funny how owners of different marques of cars seem to lean towards one brand than another. As of yesterday i was leaning towards the Carbotech, today im more and more towards...

Are you running the RS4-2s all round or just up front. Chatting with a few of the Pagid guys I’m thinking RS29 up front and the RS4-2 in the rear.

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

Thanks for all the superb responses guys. Out of interest, what are you running on the rear to go with your front pads of choice? You hear lots of people say there’s no point upgrading the rear as it doesn’t do anything on the Clio. However I’m a big believer in getting proper pads in the rear...

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

What are they like on discs Olly? A lot of metal removal? Not bothered about squeel so much, it’s more about performance, reasonable durability in terms of life and dust that doesn’t eat the wheels and bodywork.

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

Cheers for the responses chaps. There’s a bit part of me that just says buy some RS29s as they’re a known entity of something I like, works well lasts ages. It’s difficult as brakes are a very subjective part of a car and what feels good one one persons really doesn’t work for someone else. I...

If you’re running no spacer up front then 68s will be fine.

Show me your stud and nut kits.

I have 10mm axle spacers on the rear with 68mm studs, 16mm hubcentric spacers up front with 75mm studs. This is the absolute widest spacer you could use as I’ve no thread left to play with. Wheels are 2118 ET43.

My PFC 01s were similar till they were up to temp. Once hot they didn't spark anymore. On the road they just didn't get hot enough to be in their optimum heat range. The braking was still mega, but i don't want wheels full of angle grinders every day :D

I haven’t in my own car. Driven other non Clios with them and felt similar to a 2500. Wasn’t remarkable from memory. Maybe I should try them?

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

Im aware im asking for the impossible lo. I don't mind the dust or even the occasional noise. My car hasn't worn any anti rattle shims since about 10k miles lol. Its the dust being corrosive and welding to my wheels that bothers me. Using the car in all weathers this can be a pain.

High performance pads that still cope on the road.

Experience with brake pads, talk to me. I don’t hoon about regularly on the road, but I do want significantly more performance than I currently have if possible. (Holy grail I know) Requirement: • Offer significantly more performance than Ferodo DS2500. • Non corrosive dust. • Will not...

Low miles Titanium 182 on ebay

Agree with you both 100%. The trouble comes when you want to advertise it, where do you try and sell it? As you know, the spotty baseball cap brigade arrive in their droves to share your advert telling everyone they wouldn't pay that, and you can but a better one for £2.50 with cams bro!! As i...

Low miles Titanium 182 on ebay

Personally i wouldn't buy a non cup chassis car, but looks straight enough and worth that money all day. The more and more i see comments on the Clio Faceache groups the more i see people slagging off anything more than £1500. Same old story, people want gold for brass money
