Ive just fitted a black sunstrip on my cup. Are all of your sunstrips the stick on ones on the outside ?
If so have you had any problems with the wipers going over it, eg ripping the wiper blade or smearing ?

Mine takes 15 - 20 mins before rev limiter is in the red. I Stay below 4rpm for about 5 mins, then drive reasonably hard (upto 6k rpm), then 15 mins go hell for leather its either warm by then or almost.

Anyone with a Cup, fitted the K-tec exhaust ? The valvers say it is very loud. When I spoke to K-tec they said it was not as loud as the valver version. I dont ming a nice sport noise, but not at a level that would wake the dead (or the neighbours)
I have a large stone chip in my bonnet and was told £300 as it would require the bonnet and the tops of the wings to be sprayed to blend the colour in. So I did it myself with a touch up pen, not perfect but alot cheaper and not that visable now.
Ive just called R Sport and they say the Cup ECU is tweeked to give better throttle response and greater torque, especially at low to mid revs and as such develops more power over a std 172 engine.
Oh you are all so Harsh on the Cup. It does have features the 172 does not like different ECU, uprated suspension, wider wheelbase, better tuned steering, tweeked chassis etc.....

They my be 120BHP but power to weight ratio they out strip even the CUP hence they are supposed to get to 60 in 5.8 secs.
I recon they have done their best by 60 or 70 anyway. anyone know the 0 - 100 figure for one I recon it must be less than the 16.7 secs for the CUP.

In the Evo test the cup was 2.7 secs faster per lap. The extra unpublished mods over the 172 include:-
Tweeked Chassis and different ECU to name but a few.
You should try one some day, there is a definate liveliness and road hugging experience that you do not feel in a std 172...
Good choice, lots of fun. The worst bit is having to run it in. Mine was done as follows.
upto 150 miles - 3000rpm
150 - 650 - 3500rpm or 80 in 5th gear
650 - 850 - 4000rpm
850 - 1000 - 4600rpm
1000 - 1250 - 5200rpm
1250 -1500 - 5800rpm
15000 - 1650 - 6200rpm

You seem to have the same noise as me between 6k & 7k rpm. Like a quiet dump valve but pulsing. Does sound good. You dont think it is something wrong then ?
