Whether the 197 is any good or not depends on what you're going to use it for. If you're after fuel ecconomy, cheap tax/insurance and fantastic build quality maybe you should consider a Golf diesel instead.
On the other hand, if you have shares in Shell, live with your parents, and sell enough...
At a guess I'm slightly quicker in the 197 than I would've been in my old cars, having said that though it depends on the track. A tight-twisty course may swing in the MK2's favour. The 197 definately feels happy on track, I had a ride with Warren (cheers btw) and the weight advantage is more...
Both are very similar in perfomance. As you'd expect the MK2 has weight to it's advantage where the MK3 has the better stability and stopping power. The 197 is more planted with better brakes as standard and gives you the confidence to drive harder, but it's lardiness and lack of torque compared...

My mate was there in a red Octavia VRS and got banned for running a red flag during a fuel spill apparently, dunno if you saw/heard anything.
I've recorded a video on a digital camera that has recorded video upside-down. I've uploaded it to my laptop and want to edit it so that it plays the right way up so that I can upload it to Youtube. Do I need editing software to do this or can I flip the video some other way?
