I got my 172 a day after by 19th birthday, its not the mot or petrol (if you drive it sensibly) its the tax and insurance that is the struggler. If you think you can do it, you absolutely should.
Mish I recognise your car, perhaps maybe, I used to live opposite Norbreck Castle just off the prom, but worked in Poulton on the industrial estate. If it wansn't you then there's someone very similar. I was too scared to wave. :D
My alloys really need to be refurbed on my 172, 3 of them only have scrapes on the rim from the previous owner I may add. But the fourth is massacred, caused by letting the ex take the car.
I was quoted upwards of £45 per wheel on the lightly curbed wheels and they hadn't decided on a price...
keep an eye out for me!!
Just moved up from London, live right by Norbreck castle, just off the prom.
pic of the car in question:
unfortunately the only pic I have... KH52EET in case you do spot it, hopefully not on the back of a truck ;)
quick update, Carcraft have admited there is a problem with the clio. They've sent it off to renault to rebuild the top end, including new pistons/valves/cams etc. it is maxing out the budget they said they would fix it for. So in reality i've kinda don well. :) Shame about the astra diesel i've...
oh yes, I'm not afraid to get nasty, I've spent almost all of my money on this car, I expect it to last more than a week FFS!
If it turns out to be their incompetence then there will be hell to pay!
the engine hasn't lost oil thats the thing, it hasn't had a chance cos i've barely done a hundred miles in it since i had it. My boyfriend is an autosport mechanic and i know enough about cars to get me by, yet we could find nothing wrong with the car when we got it. But obviously an internal...
yeah well after reading through it today it says that everything engine-wise is covered but then in a clause it says if a problem occurs due to lack of lubrication then it is not covered under warranty.
 :S
I've had it since 26th October, been driving it for 4 days....
It's got a problem with the engine, top end, we think its been run on very low/non existant oil at some stage and now its pretty fucked, it's only fucked when it gets hot.
It looks like it's going to end up with a whole new head...
My front seats are looking a little tired. On the 106's I've always used razors to sort the bobbling out on the suede. Can anyone recomendanything to restore the leather? :o
i had insurance (or so I thought) with churchill for my 172. But my boyfriend just had a quick look online to see what he would get insured on it for and it came up with a 1.2! The registration number was correct but the car wasn't. Had a quick look on DVLA to make sure it was correct on there...
yeah i noticed that when trying to get my insurance.... they do comprehensive and fully comprehensive cover now it seems....
Tesco value insurance sounded exciting..... but they woudn't quote me :dapprove:
I'm 19 just bought a 172, 1 claim, no claims bonus lost, d/licence for 1 1/2 years, low risk postcode, 5k miles a year....
most companies were quoting me 3k.... but churchill more than halved it.
they had a black one too but i was swayed by the silver...... it looks even nicer in the erm 'flash' than it does in the pics, it doesn't show the nice tint in the silver as the light catches it.
Still haven't drove it since i bought it :( :angry face: tax is screwy, will be driving to work...
