    1988 Tungsten Grey R21 Turbo

I've been over it and it's really, really good. Needs one tiny patch on one of the bumper mounts and thats it. Quite amazing for a 34 year old car. I've had 3 chaps that know their classic Renault's after it already lets put it that way!

    LY Clio V6 - 85k

I think this is one of 2 UK cars in Acid, and this one had the ID interior too. I can direct you to the seller if anyone wants to chat.

    LY Clio V6 - 85k

If you take the time to learn the car, they are fantastic. There is a stigma around from overzealous journalists that tried to drift, or drove the cars like a 172. You can't do that in a Vee. You can't get in it and expect it to be a 1*2 on steroids its a fundamentally different machine...

Storage for bolts, nuts, screws, fittings PLEASE

I keep used stuff by size in old mayonnaise tubs she nicked from the Morrisons sandwich bar :) New stuff is all super organised though in various divided tray things. I find it pleasing to do that.

    1988 Tungsten Grey R21 Turbo

After my fun with the head was somewhat spoiled, I took the front brakes apart ready for new stuff, while I was there I was very pleasantly surprised how good the car is under the arches. This might not mean much to you, but the apparent, unexciting, plain wheel arch here is in fact the opposite...

    1988 Tungsten Grey R21 Turbo

So, cracked on and got it apart, suspected head gasket issues so rather than tart around I decided to do the lot anyway. Due a service much? Head off, all apart, mega clean up operation and sort the 2 broken exhaust studs. Couldnt get them out with the welder, unusually Got the head in...

    Copart RB 182 Cup

What a waste that is. You see some bizarre CAT B stuff on there. It will be fairly cheap too I bet as only licensed disposal sites can buy a CAT B. Normal paupers like us can't. It's defo an insurance job as the lot number is postfixed with an X, means its direct from insurance company. But...

    Phase 1 Renault 9 Turbo

Then I got the new brake bias valve out that I stumbled upon last year, I was going to try it without a bais valve (old one was shot and drums on the back) but when this cropped up on a French page I nabbed it, unused. However, on closer inspection I reckon it'd been sat somewhere damp... it was...

    Phase 1 Renault 9 Turbo

Got a bit more in over the weekend. Put the subframe back in, wishbones, struts etc so its rolling again. Drilled out the last door hinges on the drivers front door and hung that back on. Fits the hole :) Then as I was moving some stuff about I decided to throw on the new numberplate...

    Phase 1 Renault 9 Turbo

I addressed the runs that had appeared on the suspension turret tops. That was easy :D I also refitted the servo and master, i've had a lot of hassle with this as the Ph1 9 Turbo has a different master to pretty much any other 9 or 11 model. I've made do with the closest match but its...

I've basically lacquered everything But - its done now and ill clean up around the garage as I go, no biggy. With all the stuff I do in here it's not like it's ever not dusty or dirty or whatever. The main thing is that I got it done, I can hoof the subframe, suspension, brake master and...

    Phase 1 Renault 9 Turbo

I want to paint the very least amount possible myself, as I am terrible at it and far too impatient to ever get a proper finish. The back is for protection in case I need to leave it outside under a cover for a bit (more on that in coming weeks :) ) and the engine bay so I can refit the engine...

    Phase 1 Renault 9 Turbo

Friday night I realised i'd not covered up the welds with seam sealer so I bunged a bit of that on so it was dry for the weekend, but then I realised it needed primer on it also, so while I was mixing some up I decided to coat the inside of the boot and rear slam panel too

    Phase 1 Renault 9 Turbo

Then I put it back on stands, dropped the subframe off again and stripped it, cleaned and prepped it for gravitex coating. Got the car ready for some primer too And applied some stuff! Epoxy primer in the engine bay, more to stop it rusting than anything but it turned out pretty...
