Torqued down, manifolds on, dipstick sealed properly and bolted in.
I've been over it and it's really, really good. Needs one tiny patch on one of the bumper mounts and thats it. Quite amazing for a 34 year old car.
I've had 3 chaps that know their classic Renault's after it already lets put it that way!
If you take the time to learn the car, they are fantastic.
There is a stigma around from overzealous journalists that tried to drift, or drove the cars like a 172. You can't do that in a Vee. You can't get in it and expect it to be a 1*2 on steroids its a fundamentally different machine...

New stuff is all super organised though in various divided tray things. I find it pleasing to do that.
After my fun with the head was somewhat spoiled, I took the front brakes apart ready for new stuff, while I was there I was very pleasantly surprised how good the car is under the arches. This might not mean much to you, but the apparent, unexciting, plain wheel arch here is in fact the opposite...
So, cracked on and got it apart, suspected head gasket issues so rather than tart around I decided to do the lot anyway.

What a waste that is. You see some bizarre CAT B stuff on there. It will be fairly cheap too I bet as only licensed disposal sites can buy a CAT B. Normal paupers like us can't.

Got a bit more in over the weekend. Put the subframe back in, wishbones, struts etc so its rolling again.
Drilled out the last door hinges on the drivers front door and hung that back on.
Fits the hole :)

I want to paint the very least amount possible myself, as I am terrible at it and far too impatient to ever get a proper finish. The back is for protection in case I need to leave it outside under a cover for a bit (more on that in coming weeks :) ) and the engine bay so I can refit the engine...
Friday night I realised i'd not covered up the welds with seam sealer so I bunged a bit of that on so it was dry for the weekend, but then I realised it needed primer on it also, so while I was mixing some up I decided to coat the inside of the boot and rear slam panel too
Then I put it back on stands, dropped the subframe off again and stripped it, cleaned and prepped it for gravitex coating.
Got the car ready for some primer too
And applied some stuff!
Epoxy primer in the engine bay, more to stop it rusting than anything but it turned out pretty...
