    Goodyear Eagle F1s

just checked out Eagles in the size I need - OUCH! £164 *each* for 225/35/18!

Whats the best tyres at the mo

I always rate Goodyear Eagle F1. I had two sets before changing to Toyos cos they came in a good size on 18s. IMHO the Eagles were superb, brilliant in the dry, brilliant in the wet, didnt wear too quickly, what more could you want. Toyo Proxes good in the dry, with a bit of wear on them they...

    viper or bmc

I think the Viper is pretty much the same principle as the BMC. Just twice as expensive and more fancy looking. Id go for the BMC on a 172. The two 172s that I know who have them on both were definitely more powerful than standard - Waynes was quicker on the road, and Simons did blistering...

Picture of BMC CDA fitted to 16v

lol yeah when I fit mine (hopefully arriving next week?) Ill have to make sure I block up the end of the inlet pipe so none of that nasty cold air can get in and pressurise the induction tract. Dont want any of that evil ram-air effect happening. ;)

    progressive control - nos

Good question. Demon Tweeks might do it but I havent got their motorsport catalogue to hand!

    Design Ideas, Nick Read maybe

Ben R - I like the tactics, disrupting the airflow and directing hot radiator airflow at the car behind...sounds like the Wacky Races!

    help needed for modding valver

Loftys pretty much right - if you were going to put a 5 or 21 turbo in it, you might as well have bought an RT rather than a valver. Ive done most of the mods that are do-able on my 16v, and to be honest, there is very little you can do to *seriously* improve the power output with filters...

Induction kit for valver- Is it worth it

hehe nice to see you again Wongy, where you been lately? Ive still got to come round and see what your motors like now its all fixed up. Maciek - I understand your point of view perfectly - ram air may work under certain conditions, other times maybe not. Even if it does work it may interfere...

Induction kit for valver- Is it worth it

Maciek - youre right. It does work and I have seen the proof myself. Of course in the world of Slart, he had to try and make my results worthless by coming up with some bullsh*t story about inaccurate equipment. Theres no point arguing with warped logic like that...obviously his car is very...

    progressive control - nos

Well nitrous linked to rpm would be a good idea apart from that one problem, wheelspin. A better bet would be to get an rpm switch that will cut the circuit until say 4000 rpm. In fact you could even make a window circuit to only allow nitrous use between say 4000 and 7000 so youve got no chance...

Picture of BMC CDA fitted to 16v

Nice work Matt! Glad to see its finally in. How does it feel on the road? JJ- dont know whats in a Viper but inside the CDA the airflow goes into the inside of a normal cone shape filter, and flows through to the outside, a bit like if you poured water into a cone shaped sieve. There is a big...

    York Movies back online!

hehe yeah there are some quick tomcats out there...12.46 does impress me, but nowhere near as much as it would do if it came from a normally aspirated 4-pot rather than a turbo. The fact is that on the day the Tomcat couldnt cut the mustard. You say your car is dyanamically superior - for one to...

Induction kit for valver- Is it worth it

Fair enough Ben, if it feels like it works to you, especially with the kind of driving you get to do, then keep it up mate! You know your car better than anyone else.

    idiots TB question

Simon - you can be assured that Slarty wont provoke my wrath on this one because quite simply I dont claim to be an expert about stuff I dont know about and havent actually experimented on myself. But Id be interested to see how it works out on your 16v if you do go for it.

I will break my silence on this one just for you Simon. Interesting that you talk of the two slit problem, yes I do know all about it, as a scientist you must also know the principle of Occams Razor? If you dont then look it up. And perhaps consider the idea that an *objective* investigation of...

    Removing inlet manifold

Ive got an idea how to do it but not actually got the spanners out, but Id appreciate it if someone who has *done* the job could tell me if theres anything to watch out for. I cant really tell if the alternator will need to be disturbed or not. It looks like its basically taking the bonnet cross...

    Transplant question

The engine bay is the same AFAIK so its just making sure the engine/gearbox mounts are in the same place. The 16v lump has quite a few other ancillaries and extra bits that will need thinking about though, eg. anti percolation system. Wiring could be done by a specialist, I cant see why Hill...

Drag Strip Timing.. what it means...

Well mine will rev to around 7800, but I never look at my speedo, only the revs! I might be wrong but it just feels closer. Maybe its just my imagination.

    In the Dark

Thats very odd, I would normally say its your bulb thats gone at the back of the dials. If it seems like theres not any place for a bulb to go then get a heater panel from another Clio. In fact strangely enough, I have an illuminated phase 1 panel for sale, its all there, the dials, back bit...
