Finally started the horrible task of removing the rust behind my fuel cap but I've found it tracks back under the underseal towards the rear light assembly.
I've armed myself with BH deox gel, electrox and dynax ub by my question is after deoxing would I be best to electrox then dynax for just...
Stripped the fuel cap down to begin treating the rust, wasnt as bad as I'd thought but still not great (photos needed) but the worst bit is the rust that's got under the underseal near the rear light. Not looking forward to getting access to it
Just thought I'd update this for anyone else thinking of getting a DA. I ended up getting a DAS 6 pro with chemical guys orange and white hexlogics and 3" blue and orange scholl pads.
I used it for the first time this weekend with megs 105 and 205, what a transformation! The colour of my flame...
Mine has done this a few times after damp weather, from what I've read on here it's more likely a connection or wiring issue rather than a component.
For the last 3 weeks it's been fine
More paint correction and polishing, DAS 6 pros are great cant believe it's taken me all these years to invest in one.
I'd always thought I got a good finish by hand but a DA gets a such a good finish even on my 17 year old paint
So just to confirm as I'm going to have a go at behind the fuel flap too -
deox gel, electrox then my choice of top coat/underseal is the way to go or is there a need for hydrate 80 or use that rather than deox?
Replaced the drivers side engine mount, gearbox selector bush (what a bas#@rd to get out) and return spring.
Also fitted a Richbrook gear knob to replace my melting sticky original.
Just had a half hearted glimpse under my car, the spring that returns the gear stick to neutral is snapped and hanging down and the white bush is pretty sloppy
Dogbone is a new powerflex, to be honest I'm not sure how much life the other mounts have in them but if they are original they are 88k and 17 years old so replacing may be a good plan
Ive been out tonight and for the second time in the last week I've struggled to get into 3rd gear so I pulled over and started off again and all was fine. I've got no crunches and all other gears are fine, it's been fine in between times too.
One thing I have noticed is my gearstick link bar...
5 bloody hours! I've saved weeks then in the last few years not having my hair cut.
On a serious note that looks such minor damage to consider anything other than a touch up even on a new car
Having recently replaced my gearbox oil I've noticed the inside of my car smells of the foul stuff when stopping after a decent journey. I do have the usual Renault leak from somewhere and when replaced a fair but less than the 3ltrs came out than went back in.
Could the fact I'm missing the...
Thanks mate, looking at their kits they all seem to be heavy cut and finishing compounds so I may just make my own up.
Still cant decide between the DAS 6 pro and the v2
Does anyone know if flame red 172 paint is a hard, medium or soft paint?
Currently shopping for cutting compounds and DA pads so any advice appreciated
