    Left foot braking part 2...

I had the exact same thoughts about you sweetcheeks. ESP is variable but traction is either fully on or fully off...I've only done these tests on the road with it on. I'm sure there'll be no change but will give it a go to be sure.

What trolley jack does everyone use?

Another SGS user here...a low profile aluminium one. I've been using it for a few years now and it still works flawlessly.

    Mini R56 JCW

I've been running these since mid-summer last year and found the sidewalls to be quite compliant...certainly not a step change from the OEM Bridgestone RE050 I was running before. I was ready for the usual WTAF?! sense when driving away from the fitters first time after they were changed but...

It's the last line in Tim's opening post.

[Mar 4, 2017] Cliosport Surrey Rolling Road Day (Farnborough)

I'm sure I could rustle up a few from STOC and/or RSOC should we be a little short. Let us know when the books are open Tim!

    ECU interrupting left foot braking

Apparently you can get "left foot braking" from an aftermarket remap on your Fiesta ST. Ever the cynic I thought I'd test it for sure and ended up with this...

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

Depreciation = what I paid Ford for it when new less what WBAC would give me for it today. I know I could get more selling it privately but they're consistent and selling to them may well end up being what I do with it when I finally let it go.

LOL, I use that phrase a lot myself, way too much in fact!

Epic epic epic video! I had such a good day following you around at Brands - quite a bit of footage made it into that final cut too

    Is this spec true?.Evo mag

I remember the tyres on my 172 Cup always looked a little stretched. This 182s went to 205 tyres so never had that look.

    SKY Q

It was basically about people that have sh*t internet and/or WiFi not being able to get a connection on their box/sub-boxes so they take forever to reboot and they have patchy streaming.

Fiesta ST : can a boost leaking sound symposer be fixed?

Having blanked the intake off with a Mountune plug it was worth a shot... It was fascinating seeing how simple but intricate the inner workings of the symposer were.

    Expensive Volvo 340 Day

We had one of these as a family car when I was about 12. HAP 107V. 345DL I think it was. Not been taxed since '91 so it must have drifted off somewhere.

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

I guess it's not true torque vectoring...but it does apply back brakes a little to aid turning/minimise understeer. More so on the first couple of trackdays as I wasn't fully disengaged ESC wise. LOL I'm now struggling to think of even the slightest reason why I should?! It's something that...

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

£4 per mile in depreciation alone?! F***. That would have funded some pretty special 'hire' cars for the 2,000 miles covered in it!
  20. Tighten My Nuts

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

I hope so...£7k does seem a bit harsh...but the miles will put a lot of people off when there's so many out there that have done 20k or less...even if that 20k might have been done at the hand of 5 different owners

    SKY Q

Ours has started playing up a bit more frequently now...main box is in non-eco mode, seems to make not one bit of difference. Watchdog have a thing on Sky Q next week...worth watching to either see how best to get Sky to sort things out...or to find out we've all been collectively f*cked.
  22. Tighten My Nuts

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

Yes, depreciation is only ever an estimate until the day it actually sells. I valued mine at £7k which is the WBAC valuation I got for a 2013 ST at 58k miles. In theory I should be able to better that selling privately to someone that appreciates the fact that it's a one owner car, religiously...
  23. Tighten My Nuts

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

You should! I think it could well be less than my ST, the new car depreciation hit is the massive killer.

Fiesta ST - gaining boost from Mountune's Symposer Delete kit

I didn't actually claim that I lost 10 bhp from this specifically...just that my rolling road result was about 10 bhp down from where it should have been. If fixed it now but has that given me 10 bhp? I seriously doubt it for what amounts to, being generous, about a 1 psi boost gain!

    MarkCup's Fiesta ST

Right now @Sir_Dave they're, umm, interesting. Up to 4th gear on treated and damp roads the traction light is flashing at will and that's when the ambient temperature is 10 degrees or so. When it's just above freezing they're even worse. Oddly, I quite enjoy it! I leave early enough for the...

Getting home from a track after having an accident

When my 172 Cup locked itself into 2nd gear I just drove it home at 40 mph maximum and with lots of planning ahead at junctions! Luckily I only lived 7 miles from the track...but then later on I had to drive it the 35 miles to Rentech. That was a painful experience.
  27. Tighten My Nuts

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

Of course not! Depreciation is purely speculative right now...that'll get firmed up properly when I eventually get rid of it...there'll be a final absolute this is what it cost report at some point...probably as a segue into my RS ownership. Ouch! 69ppm hurts! Predictions for the RS? I'm...
  28. Tighten My Nuts

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

I've got through 3 sets of tyres, not 4, in almost 60k miles...so that's 20k (or just under) per set including on average one trackday each. I'd say that's pretty good going! I've been there with spare wheels and dedicated track tyres in the past...from my experience it doesn't work out any...
  29. Tighten My Nuts

Hot hatch ownership; how much does it really cost?

Exactly. Buying new, be it lease or otherwise is always a massive chunk no matter which way you look at it...unless a) you buy something depreciation proof or b) hold on to something for a looooong time. £26k is assuming I get £7k for it which is the webuyanycar valuation at my mileage. In...
