Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Ball joint removed etc, but driveshaft still in place, passenger side btw.....much play? LOL.
This could maybe explain alot, FFS.
Still, all stripped down now anyway, off to get the wishbone bushes pressed out and sleeves welded up!
yeah.....The mirrors, badges and cage went from silver to orange to acid yellow, wayyyyyy before the whole of CS started doing it lol. Still cant believe its been over a year since it went.
Dont know then. When I fitted the schricks to mine, and it was still on a 172 standard map, the 5k 'kick' has completely disappeared...if it was fuel, surely it would still be there?
£54.20/each on Camskill for 195/40/16.
Then you would have to pay to get them fitted, a backstreet local garage would usually charge around £20 in my past experience.
Im sure they usually have a little heatshield that clips over them as standard, well I remember my 172 starter having one on when I got the engine im sure...I dont have one on and ive never had a problem, although my manifold is wrapped.
Also MK1s definately come with them too, most are missing...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I was heading over to mansfield this morning to pick one up from a C16V member, but I got waylaid and didnt have time (2hours each way)...So il just have to see what other options ive got more locally for now.
Yeah, well the radiator 'flat' is 1mm or so...
BUT awesomegti read out 186bhp on a standard 172, lol.
May aswell make a proper day of it and do it at RSTuning like in the past...but then people moan about it being too far....can never win, lol.
yeah, the box was a service exchange from renault, oddly its a '92 casing with brand new insides, along with the bolt in diff. Im guessing they just re-use the casings to save on cost
yeah lol!
aye new'er', fortunately the run-around valver I had came with a box that had been bought from renault not long before, with the newer style diff (non circlip). Im running that now since the circlip popped in the other, didnt want to bother trying to repair it.
possibly was mis-aligned putting too much stress on it yeah, maybe!
mine had lasted 7/8 trackdays then at mallory I ran some semi-slicks on the front, I think this put alot more force/strain on the drivetrain and caused it to go....was fine before that though.
If you're going to get another...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I was down there yesterday! Doh!
Im picking a valver subframe up in the morning, but thanks for the offer anyway. Im sure I remember seeing different steering rack mounts on a 172, but not 100%...
Ive been looking through my old build pictures and it seems...
are you using the 172 key or the 1.2 key when this is happening?
if you've put the 172 loom and uch in and not using the correct key it will throw a paddy.....or it may just throw a paddy anyway as the key (even correct one) may have become unsynced from the UCH.....so so so many things
checked the fuel pump fuse in engine bay hasnt blown? 30amp iirc.
what loom is inside now, 172 or 1.2?....if its 172 it may not mate upto the rear loom of the 1.2 so the fuel pump wiring might be on different pins between the looms...
