    2.0 Clio 16v

The 16v never came with a 2.0. That was the Williams. The code for the 1.8 16v lump is F7P and for the 2.0 Williams lump its F7R. The only way to tell externally is by the engine number which is almost inmpossible to get to but it will say F7p or F7R. Willy engine has a tubular manifold...

Err the mounts themselves arent that much. YOu could do them yourself with a block of wood and a trolley jack. With parts and labour I would have thought you should pay around £100? The dogbone is about £35 and the gearbox mount a bit less.

IMPORTANT - How 2 Brake Properly!!!

Well not getting too technical but basically the rule for fast cross country work or track time is *always brake in a straight line*. Ive never driven a car with ABS so Im used to knowing when the tyres are about to slip and can back off. Going into a bend, go hard on the brakes until youre...

    How about a 4x4 clio :) :)

joe youre on the right track with the 4wd. Do it. Thats the one big problem with fwd, you can make as much power as you want, but laying it down is another matter.

FAO: Phase 1 172 owners, cool trick for cool noise!

hehe as Craggy said on a thread about my Clio, you get a good sound with what most people would think is an induction kit. But I run a closed airbox and it still sounds mental when its really flying. Drive your car harder and youll get more noise!

    southend problem

I would say that even if you get a producer its no problem cos the police wont get silly if you have only a fax copy. You cant get tax because the post office wont issue it, even though you have everything ready and in place. So thats not your fault. Dont worry about it mate!

    Stacked 172 on M25 spotted

hehe glad you like it mate, that noise you heard was the sound of true power - what the boys with their Peco backboxes dream of but will never have... I always think its pretty quiet really, it only gets loud when youre seriously tooling it about - K&N filter element in the original airbox...

Anyone on here? I was closely followed (not for long!) by a silver 172 with a cracked front bumper and what looked like a foglight missing! EU51 D*X ? I think.

    Induction idea

Well you should give it a try. Remote filters can work and youll certainly have a better cold feed. Whether this will outweigh any disadvantage you may get from the length of the inlet tract (on a 16v the filter is normally bolted direct to the throttle body), I dont know. Try it and see? Thats...

    Mesh on clios

If youre going for a factory look with the edges of the mesh behind a panel so it looks all flush, you need to use a hot glue gun to keep it in place. Unless you have a ledge there already to rest it on. You can use self tapping screws if your bumper is thick enough. Dont use silicone sealant...

    Moving Foward as a Club

Well if you want to test power/acceleration/speed etc, the best way is the old favourite, the standing 1/4 mile. Which lots of us do. You do get drivers (of other cars, not Clios) who are what I call track day toffs - usually have a subscription to Evo and believe that only track time can prove...

    Brake Fluid

Well proper DOT 5.1s not exactly gonna break the bank, theres only a couple of quid difference, you need about a bottle and a half. The DOT 5 silicone supposedly has a bit of a spongy feel to it. Not much good if youre trying to get rid of a soft brake pedal!

    Bigger brake discs

There are a few of us looking at big brake conversions for the 16v at the moment. Choice between a HiSpec job using the existing caliper and up to 300mm disc. Or get a 4 pot caliper up to 300mm . Or go hardcore and start looking at Tar-Ox/AP/ Brembo etc.

anyone raced an audi TT 225 or a Calibra V6 !!

Raced a Cavalier V6 - dont know how fast its supposed to be and it wasnt really a proper race. To be honest I dont know who had the edge. Once we got to !35 mph we both bottled it I think.
