The aux belt is on, and the smell seems to be coming from that side. Last time I drove it the aux was squeaking like a b**ch, so it may well be fubar'd 1k "standard", you've got a deal ;) No mate not good. it's the first time in 5 years- 80k that it's properly let me down :(

Started up the 172 this morning, for the first time in a week it fired up first time without any problems. After 5 or so mins I noticed a strange fishy, plastic burning smell so took it out for a quick spin, and noticed the engine felt very, very hot! The coolant bottle was bubbling away...

The K-tec "stealth" system is pretty good with a de-cat. Quite a noisy system mind.

If you fitted some ITB's and cams, and strippage it would be a awesome track b**ch. IMO people are too hung up on actual bhp figures rather then how it drives.

My original CF cup splitter has now been on the front of the 172 for over 50k. It's a bit of a mess but still going strong :cool:

As you know Daz I run my H&R's without camber bolts. I've never had any problems with uneven tyre wear, handling etc..

I ordered a boss earlier mate. I might have the standard for sale once though, I have the sabelt wheel fitted Si Yes Tim the Carbon/Kevlar seats do look nice, I'd better get saving ;)

The 172/82 is a very hard car to get BHP gains out of, unless you have deep pockets ;) I'd start with matched inlets, remap, de-cat.

Me too ;) Yeah I also plan on fitting a proper cage to the 172. I will run a drivers seatbelt (for a while) and harnesses, so the fixed wings shouldn't be a problem for occasional road use. Good stuff mate :)

Depends.. What exhaust are you planning on de-catting?

De cat will add a bit more power, nowhere near 10bhp though!

Re: Iceberg 172 Cup Project Nice one mate. For me it's either one JMS intake maifolds, or ITB's... TC or SC conversions don't really apply to me. Just out of interest why did you go for the intake manifold over TB's?

ummm.. Or. Well I've not yet driven a clio with R888's fitted, so I take your word for it. I do however think they look great :cool:
