Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
i need this box to last until after fcs at least....the jb3's are w**k as they are, diff circlips FTL
my other JB3 has a bolt in diff though, just not swapping it yet, brakes are more important ;)
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
different length iirc....BRUNs ordered me in a valver one anyway, half the price of a 172 one! gona try and route it with no sharp bends, hopefully will last!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
1st cable was aftermarket (white and blue outer, maybe the type your on about)....that had 100k on it at least, and snapped
2nd cable was renault, no idea on age, 50k maybe....no idea tho, took it off my other valver...
Also, i bet if i went to halfrauds...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
both snapped in the same place....ive got the two ends from the pedal, exact same length!
picking new cable up in the morning from renault....mehhhhh
then got to swap master cylinders and all manners of other s**t lol
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
not the clip breaking, thats just the general area where the internal cable is snapping, which would make you think its been rubbing....but no evidence of rubbing there!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Il get some pics when I get home later...
Basically there is just a hole on the pedal box, that the cable surround/outer comes through. Then the clips are 'open' to hold it there....to release the cable you have to squeeze the two clips together and itl...
yep all i can think of tbh :(
If i brake to a stop, then hold my foot on the pedal in the position where the car stopped, it will gradually start falling to the floor....few seconds later even though my foot is going down, the brakes will 'let off' and the car will start moving! so dodgy...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
goes into the outer casing on the inside of the car, which is clipped through near the pedal. Then that casing goes through the bulkhead all the way to the box, where the cable comes bak out of it... Its basically snapping where that clip is for some reason...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
snapped about 8 inch from the pedal end....same place as last one...
So i thought it must be rubbing and wearing through, no wear marks can be seen though looks like a clean snap which is confusing...
Ordered one from renault/BRUN, hopefully picking it up...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeh...this one was genuine renault from the valver, its lasted about 400 miles...luckily it snapped on my estate this time, so managed to push it home...
still f**king stupid though!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Just pushed the car home, AGAIN.
Clutch cable snapped AGAIN.
No idea how old this cable was off the blue valver (hopefully BRUN can confirm)....no idea why two have snapped FFS.
this is an issue i currently have (a month or two after it started)
I had my resovouir off when doing the engine swap, pedal wasnt pressed or anything during that time though. Ever since i re-fitted it, and bled it (normal method, and with an easybleed kit), it comes through fine at every...
i see. Cheers for the video drrollo, thats confirmed it cant be that...
Its sort of like something 'activating/deactivating' as you rev it past ~1500-1700rpm, which led me to believe the it was the dephaser (as the solenoid kicks in and out around that RPM range)...
Matty, its the inlet...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
No idea tbh....not really that bothered, was just a test...
Alot run them on the f7p/f7rs, proven the most gains, but the throttle body is in a different position on those, they have like 45deg off TB, straight pipe, then 45deg/90deg in scuttle depending...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
nah, i should have got a pic of the scuttle panel, but where the filter is joined to the elbow its at the highest point, from there the scuttle panel structure slopes downwards away from the car to the wing (to drain water)....so technically the filter is...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Scuttle Induction Pics...
Two 1*2 (Ph2) elbows... And a TVR Pipercross Filter
One problem was the hole for the ICV (ph1), usually a crankcase breather on (Ph2s), was pointing in the wrong direction for what I needed....Removed the connector...
Set it...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
I dont know, lol...the noise could have been there since ive been driving it, its just ive been checking over the engine bay today and noticed it (quite noticable when near it and revving gently)....
So im not sure, last thing i want is the dephaser failing...
no idea why its crap quality, sony HD camera, lol
anyway, its just like two rattles dead close together, like its doing 'rattle'-'on'-'rattle'-'off'....hard to explain...
dont know weather its something wrong or what though!
search all the big owners clubs....they are regarded as the most accurate up this end of the country.....as alot of the other places have been renowned to play with settings for the runs (tyre pressures etc) and hence overread....you wont be able to tell without looking at the specific details...
lol il believe it when i see it running and mapped on the road....and if it makes the expected figure at RST il be equally impressed, anywhere else and the true power could be anything tbh
Got an odd noise coming from the cam pulley end of the engine, wierd rattle when it gets to 1700-2000rpm. You can hear it rattle twice every time its revved....
OpdEFOiCo6Q
Dephaser or solenoid maybe?
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
pics uploading at the moment....
got a slight (worrying) noise with the engine, just waiting for the video to process....i think its the dephaser pulley but shall see what people think
