You're probably right there. I'm sure he could make it work. You'd think they would be able to make something of it. It's pretty central, the track is good, the oval is a bit of a USP, so I thought it would be able to make a few quid. Guess a lot of investment might put people off. Heard they...
I love how virtually every sporty 2.0-litre four pot in the mid-90s made about 150bhp. Astra GSI, Escort RS2000, Golf GTI 16v, Primera GT, Ibiza 16v, 306 XSI, they all seemed to do it.
I think welding to the casing would be a problem. Ally doesn't take well to welding and welding to cast can be a PITA. Where do they usually fail? Any pics of that?
A shame about Rockingham really. I went there several years ago and it was a bit of a funny place. Not very well thought out somehow. Sounds like it won't be around much longer anyway. Maybe should try and go again before it disappears. People have told me that the track is actually fairly good fun.
I had a Meg 265 for a year. Sold it earlier this year as I needed something bigger to tow with. Great car though. Bit quiet as standard but a mid box chop sorted that, while not being intrusive.
I've driven a lot of modern hot hatches and the Megane really is up there with the best of them...
Not sure about next year yet. Usually go over Easter weekend, which is great, but would like to do the 24hr race at some point, and the Eifel Rally Festival, so might do one of those instead of the usual TF trip.
Looks a good trip. I do like that hotel. We rented a house this year and it wasn't as good to be honest, as we were out in the country.
I went out with Dale in the F-Type. He is a good bloke and can really pedal round there!
Yeah. It's just not very good at promoting itself sadly. At WRC level, the promoter really do need to step up their game. At a UK level, we seem to be hiding. I think we need to move with the times a bit, as a worrying number still seem to be stuck in the 70s or 80s still. There's not enough...
What spec is the Mini? I had a Cooper has a hire car a few months ago and it was alright to be honest. Not quick, but still good laugh. Seemed to have mountains of grip.
I've been trying to get some of my friends to give it a go, as I'd rather have a mate in the car for my first couple, just have a bit of a laugh while we learn the ropes. The cost of the required gear puts most of them off now though.
I think precisely the opposite is true to be honest. Rallying is far too good at hiding in its heartlands. So many seem to want to stay hidden away in Wales, Scotland and the north of England. One of the good things about this event is that its further south. If anything, it needs to go further...
As a total rally nut, I am ashamed to say that I have never been to this. Keep telling myself I will, but something always comes out. Will do my best to go this year though!
I can see what they're getting at, but not sold on it personally. Fair bit of unnecessary weight and not convinced with how some of the fixing points will be loaded. I can certainly see the appeal, as it's a totally bolt-in solution, but I think I would sooner just weld some plates in and do it...
