    From GT4 to clio?

172 Cup is the one to have, mine's covered over 120k in my hands from new and it still rips along quite nicely. Always had a soft spot for the GT4 after a mate had a standard 170bhp GT. Never realised how heavy they were though  With the standard 240bhp they're only 166 bhp/ton...which...

Had a Caterham to review the other day.....

Nice one, I really enjoyed reading that. I may have to get one for a day now!

Track banger budget £1500. Ideas please.

You'd probably find a rough Ignis Sport for that money. They're outstanding on track.

    Brake query

If I was you I'd change to braided lines before doing anything else. No matter how good your fluid is, no matter how fancy your discs are, no matter how capable your race bred pads are, if your standard rubber hoses expand due to heat (which they will!) you will fail to get any pressure...

    Load sensing valve

No it doesn't. It failed the MOT becausae the tester is a muppet, not because of the alleged missing part. There's a VOSA guide somewhere which you should print and take along to educate them.

Hello from me....and my new 172 Cup

Amen to that. Brakes and tyres are all you need. Plus a bit of weight saving. And a decat. With some minor breathing mods. And maybe a remap. Losing the power steering's a good move too.

Rockingham Track day in the T...

Nice pics. What layout were you running? That hairpin's tricky if you turn in too hard eh?!

    SteBurns FCS Tracktime Vids

I'll have some footage of you then. Started playing about editing the 1445-1500 session last night...I'll be sure to cut something in with you in it.

What times were these sessions filmed? I'm desperate to find an image or footage of my IS on track...did you come past me when you were out at all?

best way to drive to save petrol

This. Change gear at whatever revs you like, and you'll still get s*it MPG if you press the loud pedal too hard. As Chris said, the actual revs that you use makes almost no difference at all to how much fuel you use. It's acceleration that uses fuel, and that's determined by how hard you...

That AX was rapid! Nice pics.

    FCS 2010 track video

Nice one! That's the only picture I've come across of my car, and even then it's post-puncture so I've some stylish Dynamique rims on the back :dead: Great pic though.

    FCS 2010 track video

I had that multiple times, must be Jap envy. Having spent sessions in the past at FCS waiting for someone to consent to you overtaking them I've learned the only way to make progress at FCS is to push past. Most people brake way too early, or are very late on the power when exiting so I...

    FCS 2010 track video

Not bad Lee, I didn't push anywhere near as much as I did in the morning as I know how old the tyres are, and also without the spigot rings I wasn't 100% comfortable. Thanks again for your help :approve: Surprisingly similar. Slower obviously, but apart from that they share very similar DNA...

    Burpspeed: Oulton Park Race Report

Good work Jay, Tony showed me some of his craftsmanship on the Burp machine yesterday, very impressive. Keep it up and keep the updates and race reports coming, one day I'll take inspiration from it and get off my arse and do something similar.

Does the speedo sensor effect the ecu running?

Can't comment technically on most of what you're asking, but I can say that the speedo sensor doesn't affect the ECU running. I have a 172 Cup (speedo sensor on the gearbox) and it's fitted with a 182 gearbox (which picks the speedo feed from its ABS rings), so the standard ECU is fed with no...

    FCS Track Footage

125 is mightily 'impressive'. I was there in February running the circuit which takes you through turn 4 flat out and then up to the chicane on this inside of turn 1. In my 172 Cup, running flat in 4th through turn 4 I only managed to reach 115 before turning into the turn 1 chicane.

    Your opinions on FCS 2010

I treat FCS like a trackday, only with lots of stupid looking cars parked up making lots of noise while draped in ropey bints. As such yesterday excelled.

    FCS 2010 track video

Iggy does good :D A few muppets as usual making each lap a succession of drag races, fun though. rb6P2fHk0Ek

I can just about squeeze all 3 onto our drive. I have to do it by feel though.

How do I get this off?

How does it get into the lacquer? Badges put on before the lacquer had properly gone off? So it absorbed some of the adhesive then went rock hard? Regardless, it's a pain in the a*se. I wanted to put a amall sticker where the big S is. :(
  29. Tighten My Nuts

How do I get this off?

Took badges off the boot earlier, much gentle rubbing, claying and polishing later and I'm left with this... Rubbing fingers across these marks they can't be felt at all so it's not an obvious sticky residue or dirt build up that can be cleaned off the surface :S Recommendations as...
