Avon rise into Quarry is uphill and very very quick, with braking zone over one crest, and the blind approach to Quarry also over a crest. Apart from that it's preety flat.
They did this on Vroom Vroom - with their Astra estate...each week it was run up the strip after a cheap 'mod' i.e. stripping it out one week, big cone filter the next, and upping tyre pressures.
When they pumped the tyres up to something like 40psi I think they took 0.1s or 0.2s off the 1/4 time.
I can't comment on max discs as I've never run them (standard HC for me), but I've run both PF97s and Blues.
The Blues lasted 30k miles including track action and the dust wasn't too bad.
The PF97s lasted 15k with less track activity and from the bump-strips down, my car is still caked in...
I just did a straight swap...4 completely f***ed turinis, kerbed, bubbling and caked in 4 years of PF97 brake dust - for 4 half decent OZ F1s with competition wets on.
Best thing I did.
That's all I was going to say. The rest is true though...103k miles of continual abuse on mine...and it still never misses a beat.
LOL at people owning RS Clios and never taking them above 5k
LOL - the tractor look (if you don't bother slammin' it)...
Drives just fine...a little softer/more squidgy...but you've really got to be driving at 11/10ths to notice.
Worth it for the increased variety of rubber available alone. The cheap price is a bonus.
Ignore me...I am being pedantic.
My response wouldn't have been so 'sharp' had I not been, in a slightly aggressive manner, branded an ill-informed oik by Steve.
I know they're re-buildable, and quite cheaply too.
LOL, I wasn't misinformed and I'm not an oik!!!
I mention about not being able to afford to REPLACE them, and I get abuse followed by a link to a thread showing how they can cost effectively be RE-BUILT.
Let's see...how many people get standard dampers rebuilt once they start leaking? None...
I'd be an ill informed oik if I had said "you won't be able to afford to get them re-built"...but I didn't did I?
Wasn't the search to find someone who could re-build them was because of the extorionate cost to replace them?
Please read what's written before responding.
