I spent today at Rentech annoying Mike and Dave while they did this...
First things first, out with the driver's seat
Bucket of lard
Brackets fabricated
Bucket of lovliness
On with the wheel, boss and spacer
It's a bit of a reach to the stalks LOL
New front brakes ready for...
I think it'd be pretty close...they're light.
Did only the 160 ZRs have rear discs? I know they did for a while...did they introduce rear discs for lesser models later on?
That's exactly the same as me.
I've dropped the wheel so low it obscures the instruments just to get the top of the wheel an inch closer.
I'm not sure there's a solution, as it's the pedal/gear lever position that doesn't work.
Nice wheel.
Me too.
I've got a 300mm wheel, boss, and 60mm spacer along with a seat/harness going on tomorrow. I'm interested to see if I can get a position where legs are supported and the wheel and gear-lever are within easy reach as standard is terrible. I'll let you know how it feels.
I love my Cup, and couldn't give a flying f*** what anyone else thinks of it. It never gets cleaned, but it is maintained, religiously, above and beyone what Renault recommend by the finest in the business.
Paintings are for looking at, cars are for driving.
Too true.
I filmed the rev counter doing its thing...I think you can see/hear the 'kick'...just. The runs in 3rd and 4th seem to show it the clearest.
It doesn't look much but it really does change character and pull harder - that's what I feel anyway.
Video here...
Or maybe not.
I definitely feel it, and I filmed it in action earlier, but it's hard to pick up from the video.
Each gear, from tickover to limiter where the runway was long enough...

The 197s don't have it, their power delivery is linear, flat all the way. That's why people say they aren't as quick, because they don't feel quick.
The 'kick' in mine at 5k is enough to spin the wheels up in third in the wet i.e. quite noticeable :approve:
It's not used daily anymore no.
It's louder (obviously) and a lot more 'jittery'. With at least 150+ kgs less than a normal FF it reacts to everything on the road surface, and responds to throttle and steering inputs instantly.
Hard to say really though as it's transformed over time. I'd...
That's where it all comes undone a bit...I always brim my tank before a trackday. I can't be arsed with spending 30 mins driving to a petrol station to top up for the sake of 15kgs of fuel.
Plus, with a full tank at the start, you build up to ending the day with the car as lean and light as...
They'll cost me money though.
I was hoping someone with manual mirrors would want to swap, they take their car to Rentech as I do, and they pay him to swap everything over including all the wiring etc.
So for no cost to me, it's got to be worth it.
Less than you with track cover included.
Tell them you subscribe to Evo. And that you've been to a recent motor show. And that you belong to a club.
It marks you out as an enthusiast.
