I spent today at Rentech annoying Mike and Dave while they did this...

First things first, out with the driver's seat

Then before I could get back on the road, the clutch broke. Thanks for the lift to the train station Mike.

Bugger.

Nice touch with the badges :)

Hope you get a nice new clutch fittet by Saturday then!

Daft question!, why did you need to put the spacer between the wheel and the colum?, is it because the new seat sits you further back?.

Looking purposeful!

Do passengers just have to hold on for dear life in the standard seat then? lol.

Ditch the passenger seat for another bucket seat and even more weight saved! Looking good. Would love to know how much that cup seat weighs?

Bout bloody time wee guy! How you managed to do that many trackdays on those seats is beyond me!

Much much better now Mark:cool:

You need to send your old s/wheel to renault now & congratulate them on the immense quality of it ;)

lol - DO IT!

But hold that thought, i think we should all get together, and hand in our deformed steering wheels to Renault and see the look on their faces!

good stuff ,you'll still get nowhere near my OLD TIME though at combe ,rflmao.
Im hoping to get back to combe in may with extra weight saved and a few tweeks to spec and im looking to be the first ever mg zs to go sub 1.20 lap.
Dave.
p.s looking forward to your vids ,lol.

mark, re that spacer, i bought a snap off from driftworks, fits solid as a rock with no movement, and lets you pop it off for security, will give you the same extension as that. About 70 quid I think it was. I have an OMP wheel, so it'll fit the boss you have on that one I think.

P.S passenger one needs to go aswell, My bmw seats were waAAAAAAAY over 20 kgs each, and my omp rs's about 6 LOL

Fit as.

I always find the steering wheel to close to me, and if you move the seat back can't reach the gearstick, bloody thing lol.

Needs a cage!
;)

Good effort, although I would recommend 4 point harnesses for the amount of trackwork you do.

To get comfortable with leg reach to the pedals, at 6ft 1in without a spacer the wheel's too far away.

Would love to know how much that cup seat weighs?

I'll find out properly as soon as I get it all back.

I'm seriously considering doing that, with a well worded letter.

With all this and a few technique and line changes since I was last there, I reckon I've got 2-3 seconds improvement.

Still leaves me 5 seconds off you though :(

When one comes up cheap, or for no money at all, I'll have one. Until then, passengers get a standard belt + CG Lock and grab handles.

surely your sub 950kg's or so?

With everything gone (carbon thing is surprisingly heavy), as well as the wheel carrier/tyre foam and fog lights, I think I've taken out a good 35 and maybe almost 40 kgs. The steering wheel and seat/bracket is a struggle on its own.

What seat is that mark? Imola S?

I think it's an Imola 2...that's what the cover says, but I was told the cover was a recent replacement IIRC so might be a different model. It's got low side leg bolsters, is made of Diolen (whatever the f*** that is) and weighs in at 5-6 kgs.

Needs a cage!

What would 4 give me over 3?

thats not very nice ,how can you call marks car a bus?

pmsl!

LOL

Here's what I put in weighed;

Add 2kg for the bracket and fixings, and that would give me a kerb weight of around 935 kgs.

So around 190 bhp per ton.

:approve:

I'm tempted to drop the steering rack out and get a manual one next. I've driven Mike's and it's more than manageable; would give me weight, better steering feel, and maybe a few bhp?
