Nah, I think it's more like mid 16's Roy.
Only stripped as far as no back seats...though I did have a heavy baby seat (empty) strapped in to the front to make up for it.
LOL at this - here's your answer Gaz...
I've done most of my trackdays on semi slick soft compound track tyres. Lots of hard trackdays, and 71k miles in total over three years.
I'm still on the original front wheel bearings.
All this crap about slicks wearing out the car...it's the driver...
Don't pussyfoot around one Roy, get one on it.
Seriously, it's the last thing I've done to my car (filter, ECU, exhaust beforehand), and if I bought another Cup tomorrow, it's the first modification I'd do over everything else.
And Yozzasports kit is lovely.
Glad you saved it mate - unexpected lock-ups can easily make you panic and pucker up!
Have you ever thought of looking beyond the car immediately in front of you when driving on the motorway? It's a good practice to get into, and would have meant your incident would not have happened.
...a headlight bulb has gone :(
Now I can justify spending money on those expensive super-duper bright white light jobbies.
Any recommendations?
Also, how the f*** do you get to the left-hand bulb? I don't have the hands of a small child...
Quicker with more grip definitely...but more fun?
I can't imagine one of them ^^^ going down Paddock Hill with 3/4 turn of opposite lock lap after lap after lap.
Having sat in the passenger seat of a 182 Cup with John Hayman at the wheel (writes for Evo and races) round Brands they're so...
It's closer to 15 kgs, which on a standard 172 Cup would give you about 3 more bhp/ton.
Don't scoff though...how much does 3 bhp cost normally? £47 for a panel filter? Or maybe £100 for a decat? There's plenty of people that spend money on them.
Yet taking back seats out costs nothing and...
That's so important in my opinion, and nicely aided by the feedback. You can get it to dance on the limit when you're in the groove.
There's nothing better than when my Cup's moving about beneath me :)
A 172 Cup is likely to be slightly better than a normal 172 as it's got 89kgs less to lug around.
I regularly get 350 miles from a full tank...which is approx. £43.00 to refill.
That works out at just over 80 miles per £10.00.
I do a mix of dual-carriageway, country roads and urban stop/start.
Just fit whatever you can find to the back brakes - the way the 172 Cup is setup means the rears do hardly anything.
I've covered 71k and had new rear discs two weeks ago and that was because one of the rear bearings had gone.
I'm still on the original rear pads though, and they are only...
Don't ever take your car back there again, they've not the first f***ing clue what they're talking about. Let them get their hands on it and they'll screw it up.
A 172 Cup doesn't have that part fitted, it comes from the factory exactly as it is, the brake bias is set and non-adjustable.
If...
I subscribe to a financial advice/news service and got this this morning, looks like things might be changing for insurance companies
