My soul's died, this car's killed it. The connector doesn't fit so i'm going to have to modify it, I don't have a nut that fits the 8mm bolt, at least I think it's 8mm, and the thread's mangled so it'll probably cross thread as soon as I try doing the nut up. Also my battery charger no longer...

I'm sure I can find a 13mm from somewhere, if not Homebase is just up the road. I know what'll happen, i'll get it all sorted, jump start the car, stick the multimeter on the battery, and discover it's still not charging and I need a new alternator. :(

Well seeing as i'm not a mechanic or an electrician, I think i'm doing well to find out what I need and how to fix it.

I've been given one that looks exactly like that, but it's got a 10mm hole instead of an 8mm hole, but he said it can handle 200 amps, so it should be fine.

Ok, the sparky came round, had a look and now i've got the correct connector, I just need to find a 13mm nut now, then I can finally find out if it was the alternator connector, or if I actually need a new alternator.

Yep, i've been in loads of places looking at those today. :dapprove: Anyone know how much load it needs to be able to handle, as in how much juice goes from the alternator to the battery?

So how the hell do I get at the locking nut behind the plastic casing then? Because when it comes to reconnecting it, how do I stop the bolt from spinning when I tighten it up?

I know f*ck all about anything tbh, I make it up as I go along.

I'm not sure about that mate. lol I've truly had enough of Clios as an everyday car. I honestly think the French designed these cars to last 10 years, because it's just one problem after another now, I had 5 years of relatively trouble free motoring, those days are well and truly gone! :(

I know I feel guilty and more than a little stupid that I didn't check the battery before you came round and changed the starter, but at least you know how to change a 1*2s starter motor now. lol :o
