    Alternator cable snapped.

I'll need to buy some crimpers then.

    Alternator cable snapped.

I'm going to strip the wire back a bit and slide one of these over it, no idea if I need to crimp it in place or not though.

    Alternator cable snapped.

The whole lot span together, other than trying to dismantle the alternator in the engine bay, there was no other way, i'll probably put it all back together and it'll still be f*cked. You know what the dog kennel's like, it's not happy unless it takes all my money.

    Alternator cable snapped.

Right, I cave-maned the f*cker of by hacksawing through the nut, all I need to do now is get a new 13mm spade connector, and a new 13mm flanged nut, unless it's some kind of weird special French nut? Then I can jump start it and see if it's solved the charging issue.

    Alternator cable snapped.

Already sprayed it with WD40, there's just enough cable to recripm it. Won't I need a complete aux kit if the belt comes off?

    Alternator cable snapped.

I was trying to undo this nut and the connector snapped, and the bolt turns with the nut, probably because they're so corroded they're now one piece of metal/rust.

    Alternator cable snapped.

I put one up after i've eaten this pasta.

    Alternator cable snapped.

I've found out what's wrong with the dog kennel, the alternator isn't charging the battery. So I decided to take off the live wire and clean the connector, in the process of undoing the bolt the connector snapped and the bolt now turns with the nut. Is it new alternator time, and if it is, do...

    Unbreakable 172 from South Africa

Welcome to CS, i'd love to see some pics of it, sounds like a survivor.

I quite like Cortina's these days.

£995 for that, surely there's a 1 missing from the front of that number? If that's genuine, that's a f*cking bargain and it looks like it's had some work done to it already...

WTF, are you MAD!? Insurance costs for a 30yr old.

Try Brentacre, i'm 37 with maximum no claims and only pay £450 fully comp, with unlimited mods, and I live in Coventry which is a sh*t hole.

    RRday 2013

A day out with the lads, plus we normally end up in the pub for a plate of food, sounds good to me. :D

    RRday 2013

I'm up for Cooksport, with a bit of luck we may even see the BTCC Clio. Hopefully the Dog Kennel will be fixed by then.

You're a good man, if changing the battery doesn't fix it then I could do with some help replacing the starter.

You've helped me out with the car so much i'm starting to feel guilty. :o

I can't even find the starter motor tbh, someone told me to remove the battery and airbox to gain access, but it's not under there, as far as I know it's under the exhaust manifold.

That is exactly what i'm after, my favourite shape with some decent mods, I want it now!!! Sadly it'll be March by the time i've got the money, i've a few photo jobs lined that should get me back on track with saving.

No one will accept magic beans, so until i've saved up all the money i'll have to stick with my broken Clio. If the f*cking thing hadn't broken down so much last year i'd have one by now. :dapprove:

How reliable are the classic wagons? I don't want to swap one unreliable car or another. This is my favourite shaped wagon, but good ones are the same price as old STi Wagons. I just want one that's comfortable, reliable, and is capable of doing a journey of a few hundred miles with ease...

I quite like Cortina's these days.

Why do all the good cars come up or sale when I don't have the money? :dapprove: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C352735

Indeed, this place has saved me a fortune over the years, plus i've met some seriously cool people. Although i've now had my fill of Clios, time to scratch my Impreza itch I think.

Cheers for that, i'll have a look when i'm in a better mood and it's not pissing it down, i'll probably find out it's a lose connection or dirty spade connector. This car's getting retired as soon as I can afford a new dog carrier, it can live out it's days on track, as it's a pain in the arse...

That would be cool mate, i'll pay for postage and all that, I just have to figure out how to replace it myself, as i've no money until I get back behind the camera. Bloody cars!

    The Dog kennel's dead (vid)

Haven't tried bump starting it, once the car's warmed up it'll start every time. The battery's only a year and a bit old, plus all the electrics work fine, i'm almost convinced it's the starter, I just thought i'd post a vid for confirmation.

    The Dog kennel's dead (vid)

For quite a few months it's had starting issues, it normally starts after a few go's, but over the past few days it's just not having it, I think the starter motors knackered and has finally given up...

Strangest Thing You Have Found Clearing Out The Car?

A boiled sweet under the rear seats and a massive long screwdriver in the engine bay, it was jammed up next to the battery, looked like part of the car until jiggled it and it came out.
