Thinner glass would be a few kilos minimum I'd have thought.
Also, not having ABS should count for several kgs?
Only two seatbelts at the rear, no split rear seat, no side airbags...it all adds up.
It was me pondering that exact same dilemma that caused my "off" (you can actually see the skid mark going off track on the outside of the first corner just after I turn-in).
I'd been taking 3rd each time, but only for 10-15m or so, so off I went thinking "I'll hang on to second a little...
Very little. They tend to fill up/flatten the mid-range a little, and give you an extra 500/750 rpm to play with on track.
Throttle response is a little sharper too.
Here's a clip of one of my 6.50's...and watching it back now, I can clearly see where the extra time is
I'll catch those pesky MKI's. We need to go again...
Definitely does...us MKII boys don't get to use that extra power we have, and the extra weight carried is hard work.
Was really noticeable watching Zollo round the slow twisty bit (near where we were all stood) - he was visibly quicker, maintained much more momentum.
My tyres were letting me down a little, and I could have pushed a little harder in a few areas, but getting a tidy lap in at pace was tricky. My last 4 runs were all mid 1.06's, but not one single lap was without a "moment".
At best I think had a mid to late 1.05 in me, so the Willys were...
Had a standard service today, and while Mike had it, I asked him to fit a new set of front calipers (which I supplied), and bleed the brakes all round (Mike supplied the fluid).
After all that TLC, it then gets a nice jetwash, then handwash.
Less than £180 :D (including unlimited coffee...
There a video of a virtually standard 172 Cup against a virtually standard 182 Trophy flat out up the straights at Goodwood here.
Cup had 50k was running R-sport ECU and ITG panel and Yoko A032 tyres, Trophy the same but standard tyres and about 3-5k IIRC (Nik?).
Cup had more than the edge.
I can't get out of work tomorrow, I'm sprinting at Haynes on Saturday, and we've a full day on Sunday so I miss out on it this year - gutted :(
This is what makes it unmissable though, from last year, an F1 car so close and revving so high it makes your ears bleed :D
Enjoy... - best viewed...
Ooh, never thought of that. Better get the GT passenger seat or my wife will kill me
What are they like on your daily commete Steve? How far do you go each day?
You could do a lot worse than a 2 hour drive to Portsmouth to visit Mike at Rentech.
Check back through the dealer forum...he has loads of good feedback, my Cup has never been touched by anyone other than him since new, and now on 64k, I'm taking it to him again this Friday.
Following on from here where I had a sound problem with my Origin b2, I sent it off to them.
Two days later I'm e-mailed to say they've found the fault, and it's been sent for repair/replacement.
Two more days later and I'm e-mailed to say it's all fixed, and is ready for despatch.
