UPDATE:
So I have been away on holiday for a couple of weeks, whilst away I got contact from Troy at Northampton Motorsport and they can not calibrate the dash, the conversation was very brief and not the clearest but it looks like it is something I am going to look into when I get the car back...
Very lucky on getting it checked, deffo better to be safe than sorry.
Hope you get to the bottom of it easily and out a couple more times this year.
As mentioned elsewhere I think I may be bothering you about the loom bits as I think I have more issues....
Sounds like you have made the right choice.
Fast moving on the trailer, that worked out well. What you thinking car wise? Race car or something you can use and trackday? (Friend is currently selling a Mini race car).
This is a massive shame. Looks like you have had a real tough ride (no pun intended). Seems like you have really been messed around.
Sounds like Andy is straight up... I chose Northampton Motorsport and after 7-8 years of mine being in pieces I needed somewhere I could take it leave it and get...
Electronics are not my strong point (actually what is.... I really need to learn)
I know you can add the data logger to the older Dash2 and then with the extra GPS sensor separately (that then plugs into that) you can get the speedo. This may be a way to go to future proof the car, a data logger...
This looks pretty handy and keeps it all nice in the engine bay. I am a little concerned that I am doing to have to de-pin the connectors going into the back of the Dash2, I also need to check on the wiring for the kill-switch (it wasn't my loom originally) but I will see the state of play once...
UPDATE:
So some of the niggles I am going to have to look at with the car:
No Speedo
The dash has no input for speed. These are not taken from the wheel speed sensors but previously on James Ashtons car where through a data logger. The later Race Technology Dash2's (the pro) came with GPS built...
Awesome man, congrats. This will be our first also, and are due early November.
I would have liked to get some use out of it before then but realistically funds just aren’t going to allow that with the bills for this and so many other things going on. It just means it will be spot on for some...
Yeah mate, how have we not worked this out/discovered this before....
That is the other reason I am going to be broke, just ordered a new bike too....PM on way
Thank you guys, much appreciated. Yeah I do think it is going to be pretty different, in a good way I hope....lol
Are you due to mate? If so, big congrats...
Very happy with the curve, a massive improvement. Looking forward to driving it now, but it may not come out in anger for a while.
I will have to look at saving/paying these bits off for a little while which should work out with sorting the other bits and bobs too (as they will be minimum...
UPDATE:
Just had a call from Troy at Northampton Motorsport and the car has now been mapped.
There are some little niggles still to sort but I guess these are small fry to now knowing the car is actually running well and it withstood the power runs.
The car was originally assembled by BTM...
UPDATE:
I realised a couple of days ago that I still could progress a little with the build as I do have 1 small part of the puzzle still in my company. The front bumper....
I need to sort the brake cooling and this was going to be fed by the now not in use fog light apertures in the front...
As long as things are relatively generic I think its ok..... I wouldn't be able to get away with my cut rear bumper I doubt.... but thats easily sorted.
I think some even get funny about roof scoops, and drilling interior panels
UPDATE:
I spoke with Northampton Motorsport yesterday and the new connectors have been connected to the looms and car fires up and is running on all 4-cylinders. Happy days... shame it wasn't an easier (cheaper) problem to solve but glad we have got to the bottom of it.
Next up is for it to go...
As others have echoed. Chris was a good mate, 1. I can't believe he built it and hardly used it, 2. I can't believe he sold it... but 3. I am glad it has gone to a good home. Such a good build with the attention to detail....
Enjoy
Subscribed now so will be keeping a good eye on the thread.
We have a 3L LWB (dual axle) so hopefully should suit towing well, but as you say it will be like a bloody artic... ha
