I had somehow also missed this thread.... Just been all the way back through the thread.
Love how this gets used/abused/fixed and used again. Looks like you have had a lot of fun with it.
How did you find towing it with the Sprinter? I will be using our to tow shortly
Would be nice to remove it, visually and for access to the engine but I think you have done the right thing for sure, always good to have an easy back up option.
Ah man, frustrating on the engine and as said super unlucky. Interesting way to look at it in that it may have been for the better as you lacked wet tyres and wipers (the lack of wipers made me chuckle...) I hope you get it sorted with minimal costs/ease mate.
Interesting to read about the...
As much as it also sucks for you guys its nice to know the feeling is shared in a way. Its frustrating but I guess it will make me appreciated it even more when it comes. The car isn't going anywhere, it is a long term project (if you hadn't guessed). There will be plenty of time to play...
A lot of it is hours...
3hrs rolling road time (attempted)
9hrs working on/trying to sort the loom issues and sorting the inlet balancing
aswell as £650 + VAT for the new ECU and there we have it...lol
Bills like this just mean everything will be a lot slower coming together, even when I get...
UPDATE:
Physically nothing has progressed again since the last update and is unlikely to until next week.
A new connector (this time an AS mil spec connector) has been ordered and will be fitted shortly.
I have had the bill though, coming in at just over £1800 this is quite frustrating as the...
Just read the secondary update and watched it back also.
The car looked to be going really really well and there is some lovely smooth driving (not that I know what I am on about...) As others have said it is a massive shame that the result didn't come. Looks like a great championship too, a...
UPDATE:
So I had contact from Troy this morning as they have been working on the car and investigating the issue with cylinder 4.
Turns out was a lack of continuity to cylinder 4 through the loom. This was the traced back to the bulkhead connector. On dis-assembling the connector it became...
Great write up Tom,
That quali lap looks spot on too.
Would really like to come and see you boys race at some point. I have known Chris for a long time but never met him so would be good to see/meet you all and see a couple of races.
UPDATE:
Had contact from Troy at Northampton Motorsport again today. They have now had the inlet system off and drilled and tapped the inlet manifold, this means the ITB's can now be vacuum balanced.
With the above done Troy had a little bit of time to run the car up this morning. For the...
I want to have an opinion on the wiring, but I am probably more wirely retarded than you....
Whats the thoughts on the need for a swirl pot though? Is is more of a safeguard?
I have chatted with a couple people and they have said there really isn't much need most of the time on these cars.
Cheers for the kind words mate, I do understand about the bumper though - it is very marmite... I think a diffuser will eventually be present which should improve it a lot. I am eager to finish it but there is still lots of bits to tie up once I get it back, the wheels, the suspension set-up...
UPDATE
Well kind of, I was nearby so visited Northampton Motorsport to see the clio.
It hasn’t had any work done yet but started up straight away. It should be getting looked at this week with regards to balancing the bodies and sorting cylinder 4, then onto mapping
Do something once and properly (easier said then done).
I think that will solve a lot of issues and give you exactly what you need/want.... just more money though
UPDATE:
Had a call from Troy today at Northampton Motorsport. He let me know that the car had its initial fire up today (I wasn’t present) and they ran it for 60 seconds at approx 12k rpm. A couple of issues were apparent.
Throttle pot wasn’t initially working. (Unsure what he meant by...
Very interested to know any details on the Lithium battery as I think my Odessey is shot and I will need to get something new.
I initially saw about them on Stav-tech so was going to look into it any ways.
It does indeed look turbulent under the diffuser, if it makes a slight difference its...
UPDATE:
I spoke to Northampton Motorsport today and they could confirm the SCS Delta have now sent the ECU, it has been received and is now fitted to the car. It is a little frustrating that this has taken over a month and that I have had to chase Northampton Motorsport for the information. I...
Some good progress here mate,
Have you run this tensioner for a while? Thats what I now have on mine but there has been speculation about them being crap.
I agree the ballache will be worth it either way it is done, I just want to minimise the ballache, but whichever way it is done it will be done right - no point coming this far to then mess around. I think on the basis it will need doing regularly I may opt for tapping the manifold. I am...
They can be done that way yes, but there is not enough access to the inlet with the airbox on.
Indeed they can. What may have to happen is
the airbox gets removed, along with the manifold as 1 piece - which is a bit of a ballache,
then the endplates from the airbox and then the trumpets...
