Thanks for the information mate.
Sorry to be a pain, what size belt do you use with the 172 cup alternator?
I read earlier in the thread you changed the pully size when you were using the Volvo alt to slow it down so try match the slower speeds the alternator would be used to.
With the cup...

Well from Bridge to Gate/gantary my best lap was 9.33 and that was my 18th lap of going round the ring.
Allthough its banned, the best thing to do is film it then you can just drive as fast as you like with in your limits and at the end of the day you can sit down and watch your video and see...
That'll teach you for running a cat ;)
Hope the exhaust baffels arent cloged with melted cat rubbish.
Did you ever buy new wheels after all those photoshops? Car looks lovely and clean btw :)
But the whole point was he was making a Mk1 172 Cup, So its either gota be blue or silver as they only came in those colours :)
I say stick to the orginal play and paint it Blue.....Mondial Blue ;)
Did you ever find out what was eating your alternators? I have the brackets you use but am worried about using the alternator you were using as 5 is quite a lot for only 500ish miles of driving.
Which car were the alternators from?
Its all about the handeling with these cars, before fitting ITB's to my car i used to d*ck over lots of prosches, Lotus's etc at track days.
For me, a decent set of coilovers, the lightest set of wheels you can afford and some decent tyres are the best things to do.
Very borning update, but i'v found some parts to delete the AC & PAS so i will be doing that soon, just need an alternator and a belt.
I'll hopefully get some picture at the weekend of me stripping the engine bits apart. So good update soon :)
The car is looking great, shame the cage is a dash doger. But other than that it looks great.
Do you know what spring rates the rear springs you have are?
Nice update, so what master cylinder are you going to be using? A Cup item or somthing else.
I was wandering if you could take a picture of all the parts you are going to use for this ABS delete. I am trying to find some more info so i can do it to mine over the winter.
More pictures the...
Found a local Scrappers that had a Volvo 480 Turbo.
I took two rubbish pictures of the parts i think i need to delete the AC & PAS. Can somebody confirm that these parts will fit the F4R engine.
First is the bracket
It seems to be longer on the left hand side compaired to this part...
Well getting it powdercoated makes a much better looking finish but you obviously need to remove the belts and shizzle but if you can get it timed up again then i'd do that.
Apart from that just giving it a really good de-grease and spraying it with the colour of your choise.
Doing mine is...
I remember seeing the thread on here about that car getting smashed up at the ring :( Thats some fairly hard ring sting.
Glad to see you saved it.
Have/are you going to straighten up the metal behind the wing?
Cams seems like such a lot of money for little gain, if you have £1000-£1600 burning a hole in your pocket then put it towards ITB's if you want to do enigne work.
Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
Yay a picture ;)
They have a nice pattern, so will these have some stretch on your posh wheels?
