Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
There are quite a few people that have done what i said. Its not pikey, just think of it as re-engineering the part you allready have, not bodging it.
I mean its your car/project but you can either do it the way...
Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
I suppose if your driving the car everyday all over the place it could become a bit of a pain with the steering being heavier but with my car its now just my track car so only really going to get driven at tracks.
Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
But the Manual DCI rack is more turns lock to lock than the sport rack.
I'm using the Volvo 480 brackets and a Mk1 clio alternator. I'm pretty sure its a bit lighter than the Cup alternator set up too.
I was...
Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
I'm a little shy :o
If your running the Cup alternator set up i think the PAS pump is under/infront of the Alternator, I think you can just unbolt it from the bracket. Will need a shorter belt tho, i'm sure Fred has...
Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
Its really really easy to remove the PAS from the engine, i did it last weekend and put the update in my thread.
I spoke to F0xy the other day at the TDF meet. It sounds really easy to modify the PAS Rack, Just take...
I know of there been race filters for the V6 airbox and things like that. Ones that have to be cleaned quite oftern.
Does anybody know of a manufacture that produce a Race filter for an ITB set up?
Also a question for people who have run different filter on their ITB cars, which filter is...
Re: No Compromise ph1 ITB build (Fastcar, BTM, TDF, RS Fab) - ITB update p77
You gain more torque from loosing the PAS dont you!?
Thats that the main reason I have deleted mine, also weight loss and making th engine bay clean and tidy having less to clutter it :)
Fair enough, function over fashion in that case then.
Have you bought the Brake lines, bias valve etc yet?
I couldnt belive how expensive those annodised P-clips were so the brake lines can be neatly attached to the shell. Like £5 a pop :(
Group buy ;)
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Haha, well at least your arms got a good work out. Looked like amazing fun but also really scary at the same time. I suppose at Anglesey it looks safe ish. But Brands Hatch in those conditions would be even more scary.
So thats it now, car can get into bed...
If you havnt allready bought a new one you an buy my old 182 rad, but have you not thought about buying the shorter rad that the Burpspeed boys use, the VAG rad, will be a tiny but lighter because of the smaller size and you might use less coolant so the car will be a little lighter there too.
Yeah well i wired the fuel pump to the omex loom and it was so tempremental as to weather it would prime the fuel pump or not. I'm pretty sure that loom is nackered, so thats getting replaced from scratch, so i will try wiring the other bits to the new loom.
Where can i find out what wires do...
I know tell me about it, I couldnt beleivee how heavy the standard engine bay loom is.
I really need to find out excactly what the standard engine loom & ECU runs on my car. If i can run the engine just off the omex then i might find out a way of just running the lights and indicators on a...
I will be replacing the rad with a shorter VAG item, the biggest job for this winter is the full rewire, I'm not the best with electrics but i'm going to take my time and make sure i get it right.
If its just a daily driver just leave the engine bay. If its a track car then improving the drivability of the engine is worth while fitting ITB's
You just cant use full throttle on the road but you can all day long on track.
So basically what Andyman says, All or nothing.
UPDATE
I spent a few hours on the car saturday. My plan was to remove most of the bits from the engine bay so i can clean everything up, powdercoat parts i want to and just tidy every thing up. Allthough its a track car and its suppose to be function over fashion i just want to make the engine...
