pop into a dealers and ask for a deal, dont phone them - they aint gonna get a sale over the phone so wont bother their arse.
I went in to the dealers a year ago and asked how much and got £3.5k off list.
yeah keep on at them, tell them what you spend there and per month / per year and your immediate family and ask if theyre willig to lose x amount of cutom to the competition.
Yes theyre big and dont care about your custom you make think, but they cant turn round and say ok feck off to asda then...
pollokshaws branch are arse holes, senior sales guy is a completer t**ser - he lost a sale cause he was so reluctant to give me a test drive cause at my age (22 at the time) he didnt think I was a serious buyer.
So instead of buying a used 172 from him I went to Bishopbriggs and got a brand...
yeah, be prepared to travel for one. great car to have owned though, handling is amazing - go for one without power steering and without cat i.e. 115bhp
i got mine for £1500 from the Glenfarg Garage in Perthshire (bout 2.5 years ago), it only had 67k on it. You can get them for cheaper - but theyre few and far between for a clean one. drivers seats are usually all torn (due to very thin material) 205 rallye was worse for it.
I kept mine about...
1.6 engines are stronger and the 1.6 suffers less from liftoff oversteer (well they are more predictable...)
see my profile pic for my old miami blue 1.6gti

im a great fan of 205s having had a gti, handling is phenomenal. But for my track car / play thing Ive decided to go for a lotus 7 style kit car instead. Probably a bit dearer to buy but wont require any track mods so probably cost similar.
2.0 Pinto engined things to be had for under £3k...
my mate has one, they have a LSD god theyre ugly 0-60 in 6.5 standard IIRC. Will a standard Willy not keep up with one? My mate was trying to keep up with my 182 - but that wasnt racing, just playing.
i doubt theres a huge difference, speed will be similar handling will be similar. Although you get the luxuries in the 182 you talk of.
The 182 is brilliant on juice too (same engine...) and can be had for £11k brand new.
I wouldnt like to sell one at a big loss to buy another one new and...
too late to change, youve made the mistake of picking the zr over a 172, 172 cup, or 182 and now unless youre willing to throw money away youre stuck with it.
i loved the bit in gone in 60 seconds when he went to the ferrari dealers and said that if he went for a 360 or sumthin hed be an over indulgent weener but if he went for a vintage one hed be a connoisseur - so true!
yup, sad.
There used to be a Ferrari F40 (kit perhaps) in Bearsden with Factory sponsor stickers all over it - dont think he raced it either, looked stupid.
Saturday (today) parked a couple of rows in from main entrance, blue 172 cup, seen it there before.
Anyone here?
