Had the car since October 2012 and it has covered ~20k miles since then. The rear discs and pads haven't been changed in this time. They were a bit grindy today when I set off to work after being stood for 2 days, as expected, but then by the time I did 4 miles they didnt make a noise. Is it...
My wheels aren't grey / black. However, mine is a stripped out track day car which does help they lairy colour of the wheels. If it had an interior and not been chanegd for track then I would have gone dark grey wheels or back to standard.
There could be a reason why the majority of Clios have...
Yes, I agree they can look gash. But need some functionality with my car!
hmmm....I think i will look more into roof racks. If I get one and start using it my opinion will change. I've used tow bar ones before on a friend's car and my step dad's VW T5 has one, and I think they are good.
How...
Yeah I have seen yours on the MTB thread. I have been tempted, just don't like the idea of it really. But I may have to if it is the only way of transporting a bike on the exterior. It's just me being picky reall, risk of dropping it down the side damaging the car really.
Is it illegal to tow...
Managed to get a few bits done over Christmas. First of was new wiper arms that I painted black as the ones on it were grey and faded. Also used some G-techniqs C4 ont he wiper scuttle to bring that back to life along with the rest of the black trim. Looks so much better!!
Then I removed...
Oh and the next question if the answer is "yes", what is the best bar to fit and is it easier / more sensible to get one professionally fitted, or are they simple to fit?
I think I saw you that said this on my search earlier. Do you know what tow bar it is by any chance? Just so I can have a...
I have done some searching about and I cannot fit a towbar due to no quoted towing weight for my 172. But I am looking at getting a tow bar bike rack to take my MTB around as I hate boot mounted ones and I don't want anything on the roof and taking it apart each time I want to go anywhere is...
I agree with the brakes and tyres. After driving many track cars of various power / handling abilities the thing which made the difference were these. I currently have Brembo HC discs on my clio and are good. Tyres are Toyo Proxes as it's also my daily drive so don't want road legal slicks...
I need to paint mine to make it look smart. Was just going to brush black Hammerite them. I wouldn't go silver as surely they would end up covered in brake dust and then look crap again??
Washed and waxed mine....then did a 3hr motorway journey up to North Wales andaround some country lanes to see the missus, now the car is filthy!
Oh and fitted wind deflectors and my brake duct inlets in the of lights ready to be plumbed in, photos to follow when in back home.
Need to get my wheels powder coated and refurbed. Not sure who does it around the Reading or Gloucester area. Tried a google search and a lot of places that come up are like engineering firms.
I take it they will be sandblasted first before powder coating (not sure how it all works). and what...
Where to start!!
* Engine rebuild plus supercharger
* LSD and improved gear box
* Coil overs
* ARB and all new poly bushes
* Supersport exhaust
* Brake upgrade, possibly ones from a 197 or Megane
* More of the interior taking out, painting white and a cage going in
* Possibly full respray
Started fine this morning and after work today. But got a new battery anyway just in case. However....I do not have a 9mm spanner to take the old one off :tired: need to go and get some spanners tomorrow, or wing it until the weekend until I get to go home to my parents to use the tools there...
Bump started and now she is working!! Battery looks like it needs replacing.
Turning over the voltage droped to ~3V. Then when it was going the voltage reads ~14V so the alternator isn't broke. So I now need to source a new battery and fit that!
I am having a right mare with my electrics atm.
Went to go up the shop and the battery is flat. Reads 12V but can't check what the voltage is underload as my housmeate isn't in. Also have to wait to bump it and try and figure out if the battery needs replacing.
But yesterday I was playing...
Flat battery :tired: need to wait a few hours until my housemate is home so I can bump start it to see if it is fubar'd.
Annoyingly it was fine yesterday. Pretty certain I didn't leave any lights on from when I was playing around with it trying to sort my fogs out.
the MPG has dropped from ~45mpg on a 90min motorway journey to just under 40mpg and then about 35mpg from 40mpg on the 30min run to work. Car seems and performs fine though so not really sure what is up with it...... Driving style hasn't changed
Ok this makes no sense. Thanks @McGerkin, that did work, swapped the clusters over and I now have a right rear fog light.
What confuses me though is why would you put the wiring in for both sides, like the terminal blocks into the back of the clusters have a connection for the left rear fogs...
Yeah, I gathered it could be used as a spare bulb holder. Not checked every fuse, just the one that corresponded to the fog lights.
Will go out after lunch and do a bit more checking then
I asked this the other week and aparently there are two rear fogs. I checked both connection blocks, not just the light clusters to see if it was the light clusters or the wiring.
As the title says, my rear fogs aren't working. I had an issue with the left one the other week where that wouldn't work despite swapping the unit for the right, seemed to be the left hand side electrics. Now they both don't work.
I have checked the fuse - fuse is working. Is it the 20amp fuse...
I grew up in the Forest then moved away for uni and a job, but back in the Gloucester area from time to time.
Thanks! Spent the last few months keeping it clean and have recently redone the black plastic trim, apart from the wiper scuttle as I have a set of wipers I need to spray black and...
That would be me! Quick stop off at my parents this weekend via the Victorian market in the Quays.
I do have the front left centre cap for the wheel, I just need to put it on as it came off the other day!
I am pretty sure I have seen on here somewhere that someone quoted their stripped out Ph1 172 with perspex windows and a cage was 860Kg. Which is good for me as it makes my power to weight ratio in my stripped out Ph1 quite a lot (well for the size of the car anyway!)
Not really sure that...
As already mentioned a Ph1 172 is a good option. That's what I have and its great fun. Plus its used as my daily drive.
If you get one with a good interior then you can sell that and make some money for other stuff.
