Powdercoating Wheels - scoping it out / ideas

Need to get my wheels powder coated and refurbed. Not sure who does it around the Reading or Gloucester area. Tried a google search and a lot of places that come up are like engineering firms.

I take it they will be sandblasted first before powder coating (not sure how it all works). and what colours, I take it it is basically unlimited or can they match colours?

But basically ther service I want it for 4 (or 5 depending if I want the spare doing) wheels to be powder coated along with a refurb with tyre removal and replacing. And ideally "protecting" or a coating put on after to help with brake dust and road crap not sticking.
But as I dont have a spare set of wheels, I can probably get hold of a second spare and get two wheels done at a time, as generally having more of the same service costs less per item, I dont want to pay for two lots of two, but one lot of four, but done in two parts...does that even make any sense?

And what is the rough cost? Just so I know how much overtime at work I need to do in the new year. I've seen a figure of about £20-50 per wheel on some searches, take it that is a good price?

I've just had my 2118 speed lines refurbished but painted not powder coated cost me £180 had quotes from £100 up to £300 in 15" no tyres and no balancing just the wheels. Apparently there is a place in Birmingham that powder coats for £80 a set @Chi might known who not sure if that includes the refurbish I'd they are kerbed. Whoever you use try and see some work they have done I'm just waiting to pick mine up after sending them back as they had runs of paint down the inside of the wheel and could still see where some of the marks where, I don't think they dipped them to remove all the old paint even tho they said they did, luckily it's my friends cousin who is doing them so he knows I keep getting them redone if they ain't right just the hassle (2nd set of wheels makes it easier so I'm in no rush). I think powder coating is a better finish and more durable but if you chip them they can peel faster as any crap can get behind, where as paint is softer and will chip easier but can be touched up to stop stuff getting behind and lifting it away. And I'm not sure on the colours with powder coating but paint is paint and should be able to get any colour you want.

I'm going to be using Gtechniq C5 alloy wheel sealant on my wheels to seal them helps with protecting and easier to clean it's expensive but you only need a little which goes a long way, I'm sure if you went to then cleaning section or a detailing website someone would recommend other stuff.

Hi,

Try the Wheel Specialist, they can remove the wheels from the car, refurb and refit. They do a good job too (I used to supply them with powder coatings)

Cheers
