Thanks guys - I'll be lifting it up as soon as I get back!
How do I check which one it is when it's jacked ip? Will I hear it if I spin the wheel by hand?
I have a feeling it's a front one as I've had rear discs fitted recently.
I have a droning/humming type of noise when driving. It seems to get louder at 40-50mph, then quieter, then loud at 70+ again.
When I turn left the noise disappears, but when I turn right it either gets slightly louder or stays present.
I have been having a few issues with the gearbox lately...
...because mine's fallen off
...and I have a 1000+ mile trip over the next week
It looks like it's been held on by one nut, and that's fucked off. The other bolt has completely snapped and gone.
Am I alright without it?
Can I buy new nuts + bolts?
Do I just unscrew these ones and screw new...
Apex go low and sit nice - but are very crashy and uncomfy. Sportlines don't lower much but handle well, and Prolines go even less low but are regarded as the best for handling. I've had all 3!
Have you thought about a cheap set of coilovers? Do cheap ones even still exist?
That's a decent job on the Pug! I was thinking along the lines of modding one of the dash strips maybe and fitting something like that Audi one in the video, or perhaps something near the handbrake (behind the plastic cover/surround thing for the mech) as in - in the middle of the rear...
Thank you both :)
I've noticed the revs increase and it does get slightly cooler when I press the A/C button. I think I'll try a regas after double checking the above. Cheers again!
Thanks for such detailed information! Exactly what I need :)
How will I check if the compressor is activating?
There's a chance it might never have been serviced - I've owned it 4 years and not got it done.
This only seems to happen when I'm in McDonald's drive thru!
It starts flashing on its own with no change in power/performance or anything, then goes off after 5 minutes or so, or after switching the engine off and on again.
The car idles quite lumpy anyway but performs well.
Any ideas?
I think it's still working but it's hardly effective. I can feel a difference from the cold fan when I switch it on though. If it's not been regassed before then of course it will need doing at some point.
Where is best to take it? Can any garage do it? On Groupon there are a few at £20-30, but...
Yeah just cover the holes with some paper or shove a bit of tissue down them (make sure it doesn't go all the way down though!). Nothing should go down it anyway, but it's better to be safe :)
It's only air that goes through the inlets. Cover the lower inlet holes (the bit that stays on the car) so nothing gets in whilst the upper inlet is off. You won't need new gaskets.
Yes, I thought I'd try it out as I was remapping my ECU anyway so did this as an in between. MPG went down to low 20s and the noise was like gunfire lol.
Milltek is a little bit raspy when decatted, or just like standard (but louder) if not decatted.
