edde, if i had a maximum budget of 2500 to spend on a car for my mrs who wasnt doing mega miles, i wouldnt be buying a DCi. as people on here know ive had 3 dci's now, and never been let down once, but ive also saw the bills of people who have been let down.
i dont fancy spending my mrs money...
DCi's are awesome however they are getting on a bit and the last thing you want is for it to break and let your mrs down. this is why i bought my mrs a 1.6 16v Dynamique.
i bought it as her first car, and after she got a 1.2 16v curtisy car when her car went in for warranty work she said shes...
our little 1.6 16v VVT clio was quick until it had its belt changed.... that was 2 years ago and im going to get it done again to have it done properly this time!
looking good ma man, love the fact me and you a few weeks ago were talking about our love for ph1's and never selling etc and now they are both for sale lol!!
engines are bullet proof, ive done probably 70,000 hard miles in 172's and never been let down with an engine related issue yet! or a gearbox actually!
buy 1.2 shed for £2000 less than nice 182 sold for, spend £1000 on shed, get pissed off at the same fuel economy, being stuck behind a road sweeper and cant overtake, sell shed for £1500 3 days later, buy martins ph1 for £2500, no better off but atleast got a better car than a silly 182
dont touch the suspension unless your spending decent money imo. i tried a few combinations on my dci100 and was unhappy with them from eibachs to eibachs with bilstein black's which wernt as good as stock dampers no mater what they are supposed to be, the standard dampers dont suit a stiff...
new track rods, track rod ends and bottom arms was one of the best things i done to my old 172, totally refreshed the car, made it feel as it had just left the factory as they were badly worn after 45k!
the higher you change then obviously the higher your going to be in the power band in the next gear so depending on the engine/box/mods etc your running just because your past peak power doesnt mean its not the best time to change gear.
na mate its a 6 speed, same box that the 197/200 uses but with longer ratios, much better box than the other models ones.
+1 on the rear brakes mine has been in twice about it!
welcome to mk3 dci ownership!! big heavy buses! i get 48mpg every day in mine but i spend the majority of my day on the wrong side of the road, doing the same driving in my dci100 even when remapped i was getting 55mpg, ive never driven one of the newer 86 ones, but the 106 is a cracking engine...
LOL!! i cant imagine how long or big a hill that took as my remapped 100 with twice the power wouldnt do over 125mph and my dci65 wouldnt do much over 100
im bored of fast cars too, i always said id never get like this because the difference in running cost between my 1.2 and 172 wasnt that different, then i got a DCi and the difference was massive, massive enough that my un refined, 172 with no toys that is quick has too many trade offs compaired...
Lenovo all the way, my daily machine i use on the move/at work etc is a little 12.5" Thinkpad X220 with an i7 2.7GHz and 8GB of ram, i only use it for web etc but went overkill lol
my sister is a disaster brakes everything so bought her an old 2nd hand Thinkpad T41, stuck a few upgrades in it...
haha funny enough was trying to get home in time before it closes
lol sorry didnt have time to find a hill nor did i have an hour and a half to get a run at it!, this was a quick few minutes blast.
yeah dci106 cracker of an engine!
this is some reputation im getting!
sure is a GT, a proper...
