You'd be surprised tbh mate, there are alot of threads that ask the same questions as you have,
just passed their test, got their first car and they're really excited about getting out there and belting about,
and they get proper pissed off when they're told the realities of modding a 1.2 and...
Fair play to you Turvey, you've asked our advice, we've given you some and you've listened to it,
so many get the right arse when they're told it's not a good idea to mod a slow car when you've just passed your test.
Bide your time, get a few years driving experience, a few years NCB, save...
There are a few things cosmetically you can do to it to make it look a little nicer without increasing your insurance,
colour code the black plastics, get the alloys & badges painted a different colour etc.
You live in Aylesbury, I can't believe you're paying that much on insurance, it's not...
Sounds interesting, get a Clio media thread up once you've got it in order, or maybe a project thread if you're planning on modding it,
i'm sure a JDM 172 thread would get some interest. lol
I really can't imagine a 172 driving about Japan surrounded by boosted ricers.
Tbh if you hit oil/grease at 60 on a 60 road and it starts to let go, then you touch the brakes,
the end result would pretty much end up like your pictures.
According to him he was diving in a straight line at a normal speed, hit some oil,
it got all squirmy on him, he touched the brakes, totally lost control and binned it.
There's no reason not to believe him tbh, he's young and made a mistake, it happens.
Well at least you now know that going anywhere near the brakes is the last thing you do when aquaplaning,
just lift off the throttle and concentrate on keeping the thing in a straight line.
You learn by your mistakes, we've all made them mate.
Your insurance might have to cover the rebuilding of that wall aswell as paying for your car.
You're going to get bum raped the next time you try to get insurance. :(
Well if you're going to f*ck a car up, you might as well do it properly. ;)
At least there wasn't anyone else involved
and you only destroyed a wall and telegraph pole and not someone else's car, apart from your own.
I've got a Piper aswell, we can all get tinnitus together. lol
I've still got to replace the starter motor, sump gasket (it leaks a little),
and Cam/Aux/dephaser service, now that little lot is going to be expensive!!!
What else can I do though, it's a 10 year old car that'll be good for...
Well the car's going in for tie rods, track rod ends and alignment this Friday,
so that's the first step in getting it sorted for the rr day. :approve:
