Seems pretty pointless for the time/money it'll cost, makes a lot more sense just to pick up a ph2. Plus you could improve on the current 60bhp in the process.

£33 wouldnt get you anywhere near a full tank, so check that those 220 miles is actually a true reading. Mine is pretty much the same though so don't worry too much. I don't have the patience to drive slowly for a full tank to check it's my driving.
Caravan chassis is a good bet for that sort of money. For example I have a caravan which is pretty much beyond use because of damp etc, but it has a perfectly good braked galvanised chassis. 14ft long single axle. The van sold complete is probably worth 200 quid max but stripping all the cr*p...
I went from a 1.2 8v Grande to a 1.4 16v Ph1, massive difference. 100bhp compared to 60 is certainly noticeable, and the 1.4 is only 10 down on the 1.6. Either would be a good choice IMO.
