i know the pros and cons of light weight flywheels but what im interested in is has anyone used the K-Tec one for the 172?
ive got 2 new driveshafts and a clutch and new gearbox oil coming for my 172 so just giving it a thought while im at it.
any comments?
cheers
you need the engine, gearbox, loom, UCH to start with
you can use the 1.4 driveshafts, and you can get away with the 1.4 brakes but id be using the 2.0 16v ones if possible
best bet though is to do it properly and use 2.0 brakes, hubs and suspension
if it was me id be buying a doner car...
read my thread about my dci having boost problems, this sounds identical to my problem but i cant work out whats causing it.
mine is having issues at 3k revs where it drops off the boost but then when it slowly pulls to 3.5k or there abouts it boosts again
yeah sorry air filters in, turbo seems to make a bit more noise with it, throttle response seems better and pulls a tiny bit harder on boost but keep in mind this was a very dirty renault filter it replaced.
as for the problem, i spoke to soon took it on the motorway tonight 4th gear 3,000 rpm...
they always have some air but this was loads, just had it out a drive and much better, full boost right thru the rev range, i can overtake now!! haha time to get it mapped and FMIC :p
might possibly have found the answer guys, when looking at the fuel pipes i could see loads of air bubbles in them, its a possibility that the car wasnt getting enough fuel so was cutting boost?
ive not test drove it yet but ive bled the fuel system and we'll see what happens
yep its been plugged up now, its deffo been drilled though and i cant see why you would do it, its not like its going to full a sensor into how much boost the turbos producing to get more power from it, because its before the turbo
right guys had it on the motorway again tonight and its killing me, it will not go over 80mph at all unless you get a hill.
it pulls to 3k then you hear the turbo stop boosting, take your foot off the accelerator and floor it again and the turbo spools, boosts for about 1-2 seconds and then...
in theory it works, but to be honest the 90 degree bend is a bigger problem.
possibly worth it if your fitting a pannel filter and samco bend or doing away with the 90 degree bend
gearbox out and back in is a good what 3 hour job anyway? atleast, be as well changing clutch while your at it then you have the price of gearbox oil on top of that too
its deffo the rear dampers, they handle brilliant in the wet with decent tyres and decent rear dampers.
its a common fault, mine stepped out on a roundabout at 20mph when it was dry but greazy thats when i knew they were gone, look under the back of the car and you will see oil on them.
only...
theres a company that sells them for the 1.2 16v cant remember who it was though they also made a sports cat, it wasnt k-tec though! i beleive they were about £80
problem as josh said is 2nd hand cats are worth a good bit in material, i beleive my local scrappy gets £50 per cat so they always...
weird one, its starting 100% no problem there. and sometimes its perfect pulls right thru and others it cuts boost always at 3k though which happens at 80mph in 5th so overtaking isnt easy on motorway
apparently it wasnt starting before i bought it but was sent to a diesel specialist and the bill came to over £300 but guy didnt know much about what was done, something to do with injectors he said
no welding needed, yeah unbolt it and then rebolt it! easy :)
might need a new cat to manifold gasket and a new clamp for cat to centre section but might get away without it
yeah it actually seems to be getting better, filled it with a tank of v-power diesel today and took it out a long blast taking it up near 5k (well past the power band) just to give it a good thrash. got fully synth oil coming for it and a new oil filter along with a K&N pannel filter see how it...
the guide will give you a rough idea, its the same just a bit harder to get the 182 out and in due to space.
roughly....
unbolt 4 subframe bolts, unbolt the gearbox to subframe mount, unbolt the dogbone mount
remove the cat
lower the subframe down on a jack, undo the pinch bolt on the...
