yeah 10 mins work rear wheel doesnt even need to come off, its 2 bolts and its off! you could do it yourself no problem.
personally id replace both at the same time.
if the aux belt snaps then 99% of the time it takes the camebelt with it, which means rebuild time, or in renault dealer terms, new engine! not the cheapest thing on the planet.
id rather pay a couple of hundred quid instead of a couple of grand when it snaps ;)
sure it used to be 72k for...
i got one from the scrappys with a proven 8k miles on it for £90, i fitted it myself so not sure what a garage would take
that was on my old 1.2 16v btw not my 172
my 1.2 16v got a noticeable gain in power when i cut my cat open and smashed the internals out it then welded it back up!!
i ordered a k-tec sports cat when i blew my flexi pipe back in the day when i had money to blow, after waiting a couple of weeks phoned up n told them just to leave it...
possibly depends where the exhausts blowing from mine was the welds on the centre section just before the backbox and the joint at the cat to centre section.
Re: Finally, a little update!
doubt it'll get pumped by a 172 when its got 160bhp and weighs about a ton! not going to be much faster but deffo quick through the gears when the revs get up!
Re: Finally, a little update!
awesome mate cant wait to see this running as you know i had looked into the k4m route for a couple of months with my 1.2 16v when i blew it up, due to lack of time though i stuck another 1.2 in it, got shot of it and bought a 172 but wish i had still done it...
flat out going for it the CTR is very slightly quicker in a straight line but normal driving the 172/182 is a bit quicker due to the extra low down torque it has.
both engines need worked hard to really get going but the civic needs REALLY worked!
steering on the clio is awesome!
imo the...
me? yeah girlfriend talked me into selling her it for £800 then she dumped me, cheers darling!! obviously took the coilovers off it though ;) ill find a use for them yet!
my coilovered 1.2 16v would have murdered my 172 if it had the same power! the speed it could carry round a bed was awesome!!
but standard vs standard the 172 is in a totally different league! even if you forgot about the power difference the road holding is awesome! the steering is miles...
ive got 2 conti sport contacts on the front of my 172 the now because i killed my Eagle F1s and got no cash left for another 2 for now! but to be honest the conti's are actually pretty awesome! and in no hurry to replace them now!
so you could run a dci on this s**t? i need a run about to get to work and back and work in a supermarket where i can order s**t loads of this stuff at discount!
conversions only worth it if your doing it yourself tbh.
when i done my engine i changed oil & oil filter, plugs, air filter, coil pack, clutch, clutch cable, cambelt and water pump, aux belt along with new suspension bushes, suspension top mounts, track rod ends etc felt like a brand new car...
been through loads on my last 2 cars both cars were down on power compaired to panel filters and standard airbox's
neather sounded that great, slight bit louder than removed acoustic valve but not worth the power loss!
mine got done at work last week cost me £300 to sort out, happened the same month my road tax, insurance, 36k service and 2 new tyres are due, and now it needs a lambda sensor lol.
its a c**t, if it happens again at work then its time to buy a run about car because someone keyed my black...
