my old 1.2 clutch got really high then was much better when changed but still high compaired to other cars, you get used to it though and find other cars hard to drive at first lol

never noticed a change in mine still average 24mpg on my daily drives!

when you say the same on all the range does that include the 1.2 16v? ive got a spare engine in my garage from my old 1.2 16v

im running Sportlines on my 172 with standard dampers because i was dissapointed in the handling coming from my Coilover'd 1.2 16v. they make a huge difference it feels much more planted especially at speed. handles just as well as my coilovered car, not quite as planted though but still awesome.

dont go 60mm on just springs change the dampers too!

its a weird one, the flat spot thing only happens maby once or twice then its fine so it must be something sensor related since its only happening sometimes and when its cold? wheres edde? lol

this morning my 172 was pulling normal untill 3k rpm then just not reving any further for about 2 or 3 seconds then it was pulling fine after that! as if it was in limp mode but with full power before and after it stops accelerating at 3k it then done it again tonight and the engine management...

wouldnt bother with a standard one they just fall of anyway, mine rusted away n fell off at 28k miles/3yrs old. it got replaced under warranty but not with a genuine one was a cheap remake which is better than the renault 1 hahaha!

as far as i was aware a decat is NOT illegal, having a car that wont pass an MOT is. the cars legal untill it fails an emmisions test in that sense.

Re: eibatchs pics please due to tolerences in manufacturing though you can get non cup packed cars that are lower than cup packed cars! if you want low dont bother, go for apex but if its all about handling and not changing standard shocks then go for eibach!

my old 1.2 16v lay for 4 months and it started first time with a halfords battery in it. drove the 172 every day since i got it 6 months ago tho so no comment on that lol

wouldnt bother with a turbo on a clio, imagine the gearbox when it spools up and all that boost comes in! supercharger would be better due the way it delivers power. but in all honesty surely anything over 240-250bhp isnt useable on track in a FWD clio?

open filter draws in hot air reducing engine power, closed/sealed filter gives slightly better throttle response, V.Small probably unnoticeable power gain, same goes for a panel filter in the standard air box, but going that route you dont get the noise that an open or closed filter gives. if...

so you love driving a standard 1.2 but find a cup boring? and what are you expecting from a 1.4 or 1.6 thats going to be less boring than a cup? as edde said you can use any of the clio engines (1.4 16v 98bhp, 1.6 16v 110bhp, 2.0 16v 170bhp) but its not worth the hastle.

dont bother with performance mods, been there done that with my old 1.2 16v as much fun as i had it was to much money for hardly any gains. LOOSE WEIGHT as some of the guys have said, no rear seats, no spare wheel and tool kit, no door cards, no sound deadning, light weight buckets etc then...

ive been the coilovered route on a road car and to be honest now ive got eibachs on my 172 there just as good handling wise on the road, well nearly as good!

cant see cup dampers been that much different to warrent changing them from good standard dampers, but if yours are gone then might as well change them for cup items. what was the difference between the 2?

bought my 1.2 16v dynamique at 16 bought my 172 at 18 (still am 18!)

fitted my old apex kit from my 1.2 16v to a mates car the other day front was perfect and then it came to the rear, seems the rubber top mounts for the rear on the apex are different from the standard ones, and i appear to have lost the onces supplyed with apex, WOOPS!! so hes running about...

internal wise not much you can do without spending thousands. theres no need to rush the box, they can handle the power just fine they just dont like being rushed. as said changing the gearbox oil regularly (i do it once a year) with good stuff will also help.
