Yeah it was in good nick really aswell for its age. Was always tinkering with it though, learnt a lot from that car. Defo be a mk1 in my lottery win garage

Blocked cat? New plugs, new leads, coil pack breaking down. Could be a number of things really. But certainly isn't the VVT as already mentioned that switches at 1650rpm and back off at over 6000rpm

Incorrect as the 172 and 182, a pretty much identical
set a budget, and buy the best example you can afford, wether its a 172 or 182. Make sure it's had the belts done by a reputable specialist, or don't bother and move on to the next one
