I really do hate those skirt kits. You seem to see them on so many Fords now. The front is ok (if it wasn't blue), but the side looks s**t and the rear looks even shitter.
Been to the 'ring so have experienced elevation change. Don't get me wrong, it adds another dimension, but I still enjoy the flat stuff. If I'm in a car, driving it at the limit, it's all good.
I'd quite like to try Bedford. I've only done it as a passenger. It was in my mate's Puma, so...
Try driving faster 😂 I've never found driving on the limit dull, regardless of where it is.
The guy that stuffed his GTR into a 720S last time I was there probably didn't think it was dull 😂
If someone offered me that, I would 100% take it. Then I would sell it and buy something that didn't look like it had been designed by a blind person 😂 No doubt an impressive thing, but probably the ugliest supercar in a long, long time.
The problem is, it kind of defeats the object if your road-based race series has to use a different engine to the road cars, just to appease people that can't let go of the past 😂
They should have gone all-out and made that turbo lump a three-pot, like Ford and PSA have. The Fiesta and 208...
The 1.6 and 2.0 kit cars were incredible for sure. You're right though, the engines were serious bits of kit. The whole car was really. The money being spent was mad by the end.
Sadly, with basically everything being turbocharged now, we'll never see their like again. It would be nice to see a...
They were wonderful cars for sure but, having spoken to a couple of people that ran S1600 cars in period, the costs were beyond ridiculous. A modern R2T probably isn't far off in terms of performance either.
If you're worried about performance from the small engine, look at the latest R2 cars; Fiesta 1.0T and 208 1.2T respectively. These small, turbocharged cars are now the norm in the lower classes and they go really well...
And a test of the new Clio on track...
... and in rally trim...
For competition use (especially rally folk) the ability to mess with spring rates can be useful for use on different surfaces. It's much easier with coil overs, as there are loads of off-the-shelf springs out there.
For the average Joe, as above, it's probably just cool factor.
This is one of the reasons I prefer rallying - at least if I bin it, it's my fault, and not because of someone else not knowing what they're doing :ROFLMAO:
I always liked these, even though they strike me as more of a tourer than a sports car. Nice with the manual box and turbo lump.
I'd be all over a body kit and big power though!
I'm not sure to be honest. We did look into it once before. I think it's a few hundred for 24hrs, but she knows someone that runs one of the hire places so gets a bit of discount. The security deposit can be expensive too.
It was mega though!
