    My RB 197

Not sure how much of a project this is, but thought I would put something on here. Bought it last August as I needed a new daily. I wasn't particularly in need of another hot hatch, but I was bored of the dreary Vectra estate that had been performing tow car duties for a while, and when it shat...

    First & current hot hatch

First hot hatch was probably this Escort S technically, though it wasn't that hot in reality, as it was just a 1.6 EFI CVH with about 105bhp. It was my third car, as I had a couple of four door saloon Escorts before that. Only a handful of them left now I would have thought. They were pretty...

That's beautiful, but I bet it will never been driven properly ever again. They're getting like Cossies now unfortunately. It's nice to see them preserved, but they're all about driving, not polishing.

    Punto GT

Love it. Always had a soft spot for these. My best mate's parents had a couple of cooking ones as family cars. The second one was on about 150k when the odometer broke, and it still kept going for a couple of years. The dealer always joked about buying it back and putting it on display in the...

34 years ago Rallying lost a big talent.

The Joaquim Santos one was bad too. I'm not sure I would really blame any driver's to be honest though. The whole thing was badly managed by the FIA, spectator control was beyond hopeless and many of the fans were ignorant of the risks of standing so close. It was a disaster waiting to happen...

The 309s are lovely. That Z4 though. Urgh, it gives me back ache just looking at it.

All 197/200’s on the forum. Get in here!

Test fitted some Speedline R3 wheels on mine a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if I will keep them with everything going on at the moment, but they do sit nicely. Needs lowering mind.

    Where would you buy from?

Usually look on eBay, Auto Trader, forums, Facebook, Gumtree. eBay is ok. You get good and bad sellers. Facebook and gumtree is where most of the lunatics seem to hang out now. Don't bother with piston heads, as it's tiny and most stuff is over priced.

    24k Mile Charade GTTi

Agreed. I guess you could argue that it's already started. The big turbo stuff has gone up, and good EG/EK Civics are going up too. It was definitely the best era for Japanese stuff.

Just another M3, this time with a V8.

I think this is the real issue in a lot of cases. These things just aren't designed as 'fit and forget' items. They are designed for cars that are used, then put up on stands and cleaned. On WRC cars, they will often use more than one set of dampers in a single day, rebuilding and rotating them 😂

    Vauxhall 'Red Top' Appreciation Thread

I do love a Cavalier. Would have a turbo all day long. I knew someone that had a C20XE Nova years ago. He drove like an absolute nutter. It was pretty terrifying for what it was. It was a great engine, but the chassis' in that era weren't usually up to much. Given the popularity of VXRs, I'm...

Good stuff. This is the best forum around in my view, whether you have a Clio or not. Lots of knowledge on here about everything car related.

Huge burnouts were a thing 25 years ago in the Max Power days. It's just easier to video them now 😂

    £13k Clio 182 for sale

Plenty of people out there with more money than sense. The fact that some old Ferraris and stuff sell for millions tells you how mental the classic car scene can be. I don't blame this place for chancing their arm. They've probably seen Trophy's and the like up for big money and might not really...

Salvage Hunters Classic Cars - Clio Williams

This show could be really interesting but, as with most of these resto/buying selling things, they make it more about the presenters and creating fake drama. I quite like Combat Dealers. The subject matter is fascinating, with them explaining all the relics that you never even thought existed...

They certainly show what an exclusive club motoring journalism is. The guys he's had on produce a huge proportion of the content that's available. I find it funny how most of them talk about the cars they've owned over the years, yet if you want to get into the business now, you'd be lucky to...

    £13k Clio 182 for sale

People seem to get very upset about things like this but, given the mileage on most 1*2s, you can't blame dealers for trying. The mileage is ridiculously low and £13k is pennies to most collectors. If nothing else, it's generating traffic for the dealer, so they can't lose really.
