A pic of my flange:
You can kind of see how it's almost twisted on the bottom one. I think I'll get it on axle stands this weekend and make some sort of brace from some 3mm steel and buzz that on. Grinder will soon sort out that rust
I presume the best bet for a vband is through a proper exhaust place or someone who can use TIG, rather than messing around with MIG. What sort of price would I be talking for one of those to be fitted?
I think having a cheap badly fitting decat has meant too much force has been applied to that flange and it's been weakened over time.
It's bent pretty far, and i'm worried bending it back will make it snap. I'll attempt with plenty of heat. Ideally i'd take the manifold off, but that's a lot...
Both are great, but the ktec ones are more expensive. If buying new I'd go PMS, however are you sure your knocking is down to the top mounts? If it's had new top mounts, they could require an extra spacer to stop the knocking as it's very common.
I believe they've all changed to black now, so the arb might not be as old as I thought. They did this fadetoblack scheme where they'd change all yellow bushes to black.
My cameras lense needed a clean, and I've only just realised now but most of the pictures have come out slightly blurred but...
My manifolds flange has bent inwards towards the decat, and i'm worried that bending it back will lead to it snapping. I don't really want to get a whole new manifold, but had been thinking if i heat it and bend it back, then run a few beads of weld over it I might be able to strengthen it...
When did you order the one from proplates Gus? IIRC they used to be the thin ones, but now they're the same thickness as the fancyplates ones made from acrylic.
Direct from the manager at proplates
'We use high impact ABS acrylic, 4 - 5 mm thick, BSAU 14d Class A reflective, 3M glue'
They have apologised and stated it won't happen again with that plate size. @T9 0LLE I'm sure if you got in contact they'd refund you the full amount of the plates.
It might always be worth adding in the notes when ordering to have smaller size font but if using the code they'll know.
They're...
@T9 0LLE I know it's long overdue, but i got in contact with proplates over the issue you had with the wrong font style on the number plates. They let me know that it's just been a mis-communication in the printing process with a member of staff trying to keep a road legal font on the smaller...
Not sure how to visibly check it, but you can just do a continuity check with a multimeter to see whether it's getting voltage on either side.
I doubt you'd get lights on the dash if this had blown though...
Brilliant pictures and writeup Mark! The car looks amazing and is a real credit to @Phase1sr.
It's nice to hear the backstory behind the photos as I often wonder how you find such good backgrounds without taking anything away from the car itself. Always look forward to your photo threads
Had a great time at CSF meeting a lot of people from the forum and seeing some awesome cars. Couldn't have asked for better weather to watch those on track! Unfortunately my car was filthy having not washed it in over a month so I only took these two photos (My camera died after 5 minutes of...
