Me too there was one on Pistonheads recently, it was W172 MAK and i'm guessing as Dan's username is Dan172mak it's the same car??? Plus the fact Dan's just joined this month, welcome Dan. Call me Sherlock Holmes lol;)

following this last night i went to drive to work this morning and the bloody thing wouldnt start. but oddly the radio etc worked, gave it a few minutes and tried again and all was fine. would the stereo, lights etc work if the battery was fudged? it was bloody cold this morning too

on what a Ph1, i only ask as when i tried to change a bulb on the missus' 182 i had all sorts of marks on my hand where bits were digging in where i was struggling to have room to move

I am right in thinking its easier to change the bulbs on Ph2 172's if the front bumper is removed, is this the case for Ph1's? thanks

is it best to change the upper gearbox mount first to see what difference i see, then if the problem/sound persists continue with the rest?

i was having great difficulty yesterday, from the arrow on the back of the fog you'd think that would/should be the part that needs sliding but turned facing away its a doddle.

Surely theres only one winner here - PH1. You'll be saving nearly to grand against buying a Cup, thats 2 grand to spend on the PH1. But i suppose it all depends how much of an issue the money side of things are....?

after having both it's fairly obvious the Ph2 feels newer as it is. However if you're talking about like for like in terms of mileage etc i'd say the Ph2 isn't worth the extra dosh. But it all comes down to personal preferrence, if you're swaying to the Ph2 for looks then i think your mind...

gearstick doesn't appear to move but i haven't really looked out for it tbh. may look into changing/uprating both when the time comes.
