5mm spacers are not even remotely worth it IMO.. 15/20 hubcentric or just leave it be :o

2, 3, 4... what tyres have you got ? I bet a decent set of new rubber will solve all of these. Remember that tyres are the only thing between you and the tarmac...
When ABS takes over, it does feel like that and it's a very odd feeling if you're not expecting it. The ABS pump takes over...

There's no point claiming on the house insurance. Fence needed replacing anyway. Dent will cost £50 to remove, tops ? If half the car had been smashed in I'd reconsider.

As for tyres on your van - can you not get a set of steelies from a scrappy !? Corsa van IIRC ? Must be loads of old steels kicking about...
I wouldn't put 2 winters on personally. I'd run 4 until April/March then swap them to 'normal' rubber...
