Kit lens will do you. Make sure it comes with a 18-55 IS (image stabilisation) :)

450D is still a good cam IMO. Especially on a 'tight' budget. I had one a few years ago. It's not up to spec with today's current range but buy a decent fast 30mm lens for example (don't buy the 50 :o too tight on a crop!) .. you're laughing. Good luck. Either sell up fast or prepare to...

Very little tweaking in Aperture. Not a lot really.. I have no idea what I'm doing with PS or Lightroom so get it near enough right on cam ;)

I reckon that the large bit of the plastic clip should be about 180^ around and attach to the left hand side bit as you're looking at the hole. Metal rod in the hole. Got some decent superglue !?
