you will normally see a bit of a difference between hot and cold
It's also important to disconnect the injectors, and to do the test with the throttle wide open
ouch, most likely is you've had a bit of valve bounce and clipped the pistons. Compression and leak down tests as said would give you an idea. There's also the slight possibilty of one of the cam pulleys having slipped slightly, but i'd make that a secondary thing to look at
you're years out of date though. Every R i've seen someone buy recently has been an expensive mistake. £350 for a bottom end that knocks is not good value, and they're all getting that way
it wont be 155bhp, not unless it's had a LOT of work, but it may well still be very healthy. Mk1 seats are night and day different to mk2 for comfort, Williams ones being the best. F7P is a cracking engine really, bit down on torque but loves to rev and it'll give you plenty of fun even in...
cleaned the lambda sensor? morons.
I think you've been given a fair bit of bullshit tbh, none of what they've told you or done sounds even remotely accurate. name and shame, and report the dealer to RUK
you forget I've driven a lot of cars down that road over the last 10 years or more ;) , your damping was not right. Admitedly it was an extreme way to test it, but it just made highlighting a weakness easier.
I'd say the damping was what needed looking at more than the springs. They bottomed out when I drove it. I've just put nice new coilovers on the rsi and I'm in love with the car again after hating my old avos for a year.
incorrect, and also incorrect that all the force is through 1 bolt. There's a bracket that goes forward of the dogbone that spreads the load very evenly. large part up, no arguement
your attitude to the replacement of parts is actually a bit deluded. sparkplugs are a consumable, they wont be covered by any extended warranty. Not changing them becuase they're not "due" is a bit silly too. I've never seen a set of plugs make it past 30k without being seriously worn, let alone...
vast majority of catches i see are very sticky. worst one I've seen was a 20k trophy, pull the release and it stayed where it was on it's own
