are you talking about the classics? the early v1 and v2 sti's had closed deck blocks, so the strongest engines, but only 2 pots up front. i had a v3 sti, awesome car, i wanted a type ra but none were available at the time. for rawness an ra or type r and they are the quickest due to...

They made a v ltd 555 edition for winning the wrc only available in Japan based on the sti ra with signed seats and badge on boot and was in the same blue colour as the wrc car. All sti ra's from version 2 onwards have roof vents and are lightweight and very close gear ratios for acceleration.

engines prone to letting go, most have had rebuilds, best to get one thats been rebuilt by a reputable specialist with some nice upgrades. other than that nothing to worry about. lol.
