I'll keep you in mind mate, but no disrespect but I'll be looking for a lot more than 5k.A mint example like above, anything up to 5k
Cheers for that, the STI type R sounds ideal as I love the 2 door cars, I wouldn't want to spend too much on it as it would just be a summer car to have some fun, have a laugh on a few track days and sell on. Are you saying the DCCD boxes only came in some of the type R's and RA's? Would you say 6-7k could get a tidy enough one (serviceable things like belts etc doesn't matter as I'll do them myself) and have change to do a few tweeks to the suspension and a little more power if it doesn't already have it (circa 330)
You lost me on these.... CBD (closed deck block??) and FHI?!?.
Do you know if the DCCD came in all the type R's and RA's?
The version 2 Sti Ra has the shortest gearbox.
Which version classic did they consider to be the best?

Its a mine field with these things but basically get a late STI type R if I want a 2 door with DCCD, the strongest engine available in the later cars (semi closed) and they have a quick rack and LSD.
Next question do the later cars 4 pots and 2 pots just swap over?
Total mine field...lol
They are not semi closed, all post 96 Classics have ODB's.....The block only comes into play north 500bhp.
Yes the later cars do have Subaru's own 4pots and 2 pots....The good thing about the later cars is the Brembos from 2001-2005 STI's bolt straight on the hubs, no need for caliper brakets or bigger handbrake shoes.
Ah okay so the engine is irrelevant for the average joe.
Yeah that's what I was suggesting the Brembos, seen a few cars with them retro fitted. So you stay with the classic discs and hoses or you take the 01-05 stuff.
I could look but since your here, what is there to look out for on the DCCD boxes (is there fancy electronic/hydraulic wizadry going on in there like the evo's or just a simple change between 60/40 to 40/60 or similar?)
My mate had what we thought was an input bearing noisy and then the bottom end go on his P1 which I'm guessing is the stud/nut rods. We never stripped it and he sold it on. It was around 450-500 with standard internal mapped by AF, it had anti lag and launch which were used frequently in the month or so it lasted.
A hell of a lot of car for the money.....I think i may of said this before, the Bug STI is pound for pound the best Impreza you can buy!
Jay, Could you tell me the differences between a Blob STI and Bug STI?
If I was to get one(A Bug), would it be a sacrilege to swap the rear bumper for a blob bumper?
