I don't have it easy! I'm running a 197 head remember! Atpower or Titan are the only ones who offer ITB's off the shelf for the 197/200 and they're only 45mm butterflies. Nay good!
Done a bit more today. I'll just leave these here. Now don't go getting excited! There's still no gearbox in there, so the majority of that lot is coming back out. I just wanted to see what it looked like. Lol!
I've done the bulkhead heat shield today so the engine was removed to get better...
I'll have another update in a minute which shows the reason why I don't like ITB's. Lol!
If there was a decent base manifold available I'd possibly consider them, but I'm not interested one bit in fabricating one. Shame Jenvey don't do them really.
It still amazes me that most manufacturers still don't recommend changing the oil in the gearbox! Whilst they don't get as much hammer as the engine, they still see a lot of heat. #bullshit button! Lol!
My cup box crunched on blipped 3rd gear downshifts with the old heal and toe so I stopped doing it into 3rd. Lol!
I'd imagine your problem will be the same mate yeah, but yours could well be synchro related as well.
Yeah serious mate! Time wise your looking at however long it takes to strip the box and Renault to get me the bits really. If needs be I can fit my spare box and send you on your way back home, then when yours is ready to go, you come back down and I do the swap over.
Just means your still...
Well today was the day of reckoning for the original engine and gearbox. Pushed the car out of the garage and got it up in the air. Removed the shafts out of the box and made a start on getting it ready to lift out, complete with the gearbox.
The weather had other ideas though and decided to...
No worries mate! Just to put it into perspective for you cost wise, 3rd gear from Renault is about £60. If it needs other parts your looking at around £70 for 4th, £170 for the 1st and 2nd gear kit (they've changed the design so you can't just replace individual gears - w*****s!) and £160 for...
Yeah it'll just get gradually worse mate over time. If it's only done it twice I wouldn't be worrying about it at all for a good few months though.
How many miles has it covered?
106 maxi's were done like that because the ITB's are facing backwards mate. Taking air from the scuttle panel gives a good cold feed too. It's also at a constant pressure as well which makes it nigh on perfect!
You can get a front mounted carbon airbox for the Clio which has a filter...
No interest whatsoever in ITB's though unfortunately mate. Yeah absolute piece of piss to do it. Weather sealing? Not a thing to worry about mate. There's no way that enough water could enter the engine to cause any issues. You'd have to submerge it in water to do any damage. If you were that...
It's just what comes with age on the jc5 box mate. They don't like fast gearchanges either. The box in the 200 is a different box though and it is a common issue I'm afraid.
No mate unfortunately not. It'll help steady it on for a bit with fresh oil as the viscosity of the fresh oil won't have been broken down. Give it a few months though and it'll be back.
It'll get the s**t beaten out of it every time I drive it mate! It's like a prostitue. There to be abused. And then cost you a fortune for having the pleasure of It's company. Lol
I 100% guarantee that the dog teeth on 3rd gear and the teeth on the selector ring are fucked. The synchro from experience will be fine. I've stripped enough to find the same problem over and over again.
