I have a full 197 engine in bits in my loft currently along with some tasty performance parts. The part of the loft it's in means its directly over the top of the bathroom, namely the bath itself. Oh how I chuckle to myself when the wife goes for a bath and lays there staring at the ceiling. If...
You don't need to fill the rack with fluid..........if you loop the pipe over on the top of the rack and drain the original fluid out, there's enough lubrication given by the remaining oil.
You'll need to do 2 things then mate:
1) start early and sweet talk Helen that you'll be building an engine!
2) start saving! F4r tuning don't come cheap! Lol!
I like the sound of this mate! We will soon have that box stripped and 3rd gear sorted too. It does mean that I'll have to get the R3 engine sorted though if your fitting cams! Lol!
The reason why the rears would need to be stiffer than the fronts is due to the motion ratio. The original rear spring position is a lever with a ratio of around 2:1, so the 250lb rear springs are actually only 125lb as that's what the wheel see's due to this lever ratio. If it's a coilover rear...
I find there's near enough zero idiots on TF at the 'ring these days mate, so please don't let that put you off. Even driving round the 'ring at slow speeds is enjoyable. That way you get to experience the sheer pace at which some cars come past you and disappear off into the distance! It still...
Do you have any pictures of the pressure regulator? You might be able to get away with giving it a little crush in a vice to increase the fuel pressure. Sounds crude - which it is, but they used to do it all the time on the vauxhall let motor running eds management.
Re: 'Cub's Trackday Flamer - Cage etc'
There may be a possible solution to your requirements mate. Doubt anymore rc kits will be done though unless there's substantial interest.
I'll be definitely taking a ring trip next year mate, as long as my wife's not in the pudding club! Lol! We are...
Custom cages cage is extremely close fitting in certain areas Tom, so you will have to modify certain trim and almost definitely remove the headlining.
Ktec do them don't they? Failing that get a focus zetec one and adapt it to fit. They bolt on so it hangs the coilpack over the end of the inlet cam, which is the same as the ktec one.
you need to check your steering rack bushes mate as if they're worn it will allow the steering rack to move, and even just a small amount of movement adds up to a big difference. Also worthwhile checking your steering arms for play. Jack it up one wheel at a time, hold the wheel in the 3-9 o...
The top picture is correct. The bottom picture looks like an Ast top cap. They usually come with a spacer and bearing. Or at least mine did when I bought the Ast top mounts.
I wouldn't worry too much about the change in direction for the airflow. It will make near as damn it no difference mate. Look at the original inlet - restrictive and a change of direction, yet still they make the numbers with a suitable cam/piston package.
